Vantage issues

awhile back i bought one of the Vantage knives and have been carrying it instead of my CSAR when wearing shorts due to its lighter weight.
anyway, i noticed last night that it had developed a "grit" when i opened it up so i assumed it had some typical pocket "fuzz" in it, so i grabbed a can of G96 and hit it with a small squirt to knock out whatever was in there. now when i close it, the blade actually rubs on one side and is very loose side to side when closed, but if i open it, it locks up with no play. i tried tightening the pivot screw and that isnt the issue either. it wasnt loose when i decided to clean it out, did i do something wrong?
ive used G96 for years on every kinda knife/gun imaginable and its never softened up any polymer or nylon so i cant see how that would be the problem.

it is such an odd ordeal i think i might instead of trying to do a fix it myself. i can honestly say ive never had to send one back before.... theres a first time for everything i guess.
i was hoping for someone to tell me they had the same thing happen and it was an easy fix. the blade was always slightly offset in the first place, but i read somewhere that was pretty common for these knives. is that true?

You seem to have a unique problem if it cant be fixed with the pivot adjustment. I would take it apart and have a look, it's not that hard. I don't know how powerful the product you used is. If your Vantage has the brass washers you should be ok, but if it has the non metalic who knows. It will only take five minutes to find out. Let us know what you find. Good luck.

i began experiencing the same "grit" feel with my Vantage Pro after a few weeks of flipping it open just to get used to the action. I tried tweaking the pivot with no luck, still had the "gritty" feel when opening. last week i decided to put a generous amount of drops of mineral oil in the pivoting area and that seemed to work. i can now open it with the flipper hella fast again. i was very close to sending it in, glad this worked.

i guess im gonna have to open it up and see what the issue is. like i said before, G96 is polymer safe so im hoping to find brass washers and something simple thats outta whack.
me having all my guns and knives at the farm and the ones i carry on me in town makes it kinda tough to show yall pics (no internet in the country), but i will get to the bottom of this. it shouldnt be any problem taking it apart, im just hoping i dont find i have screwed something up, or have a faulty knife. i really do like this knife and planned on carrying it as my summer folder. and i also hate to admit that i had to send a knife back to Buck, i tend to tell folks they are practically bullet proof and never have issues:D

I just returned from fishing in the Colorado river, a few times over the coarse of the trip I jumped into the water and got sand in my knife. I just put a bit of oil in the pivot and blow it out, with a few opens and closes its all good. I do have to say the 13C26 doesn't have great rust protection. I was in and out of the river for one day and had spots of rust on my blade.
