Which one would you pick and why (if you could only choose one). Both have a S30V blade. Thanks.

Thats a hard call becasue they are both nice knives, but are also very different.
If you are looking at a 110 that is already available, what does it have for scales ? Is it a Cabelas 110 ?

Outdoor use, camping, hiking, outdoor sports like small boating, canoeing, fishing, hunting, etc. Go with the 110.

For work use, utility use, opening bulk grains, larger boating things like ship stores on a boat, cutting rope and line especially when standing half way up a mast on a rat-line in the shrouds, i.e. work where you are using one hand to hold things while you open the knife, etc... go with the Vantage Pro.

For a display non-use design purpose, go with the 110. For the class of designing your own, go with the 110. For a special gift for someone, with an inscription or dedication, 110.

In other words, each has its place. Limiting yourself to only one is denying yourself a complete range of tools.

Thanks for the replies. I was just about to order the Vantage Pro (been waiting for a while till the issues with this particular model are ironed out). But it still looks like that hasn't happened yet (at least from some of the posts I'm reading).
That's why I was considering placing an order direct from Buck for a custom 110 (s30v) blade. I know the 110's are considered more of a hunting and camping knife. But it seems like most people just use them for general everyday work. It's such an iconic (and beautiful) knife also.
Both are awesome. Then again there's the price point. The custom 110 will cost double a Vantage Pro. Tough choice, that's for sure.

Oh yeah, I checked out that Cabelas. Super sweet Black s30v blade. Perfect knife in every way.

But then they had to put that "symbol" right on the blade??????? Gosh I hate that. LOL!

I think the issues with the Vantage Pro have been ironed out. The two I got in December were spot-on center. One went off-center when used in heavy cutting, but I was able to realign it with a torx screwdriver (a #6 if I recall) and since then it has worked fine. I EDC it 3-4 days out of the week and it does see work.

Paradigm is the one with the issues now.

Sean,

Buy the AG 110, you can clean the AG Ram off the blade if that's your thing. After you have the 110 and need another Buck, buy the Vantage or Paradigm!

What did you use to clean it off, cause I wouldn't want to intentionally damage the blade in any way (especially spoil the black finish). Would regular rubbing alcohol work? Sorry for the newbie questions. Thanks.

Sean,

There are a few old threads on how to do this. I like the Ram on my blade so I did not remove it. The guys who did will be able to tell you how they did it, it did not affect the blade coating at all.

If someone could post the link to those threads, I'd appreciate it. I don't see a "search" function. Thanks a lot.

It's kinda the comparing apples to oranges thing, two totally different knives.I got a Vantage Avid online about a month ago for $27.The steel in that knife is so sharp you could perform surgery with it.After using it awhile, I noticed that when the blade closes into the handle the liner clicks slightly to the right thus retaining the blade in the handle.Actually the blade is not off center, when it flicks open and the blade is locked bank vault tight it's straight as an arrow. Now for the Custom Buck, that's something you want to carry to church on Sundays.I got one on the way!
