Ah, I just got back from Bass Pro with my new Vantage Pro. I was getting
worried before I got there that they might have sold out, but they hadn't.
I sure like the feel of the G-10! That was my only complaint with the Avid Pro, because it can get a little slippery in wet or sweaty hands.
This one feels a little smoother opening then the Avid, but not much. I havn't touched
the pivot screw and just using the flipper it deploys a little further then the Avid, even with the workout I've been giving the Avid. It's still a long way from locking though. Holding the knife horizontal after using the flipper the blade
is about at 1 o'clock, about the best I've achieved with the Avid is 2 o'clock.
Just like the Avid, the Pro's blade was perfectly centered. I noticed that on the Avid the liner lock's outer edge is even with the outer edge of the blade. On
the Pro, the outer edge of the lock is a little more into the blade, as in more
to the middle of the blade??? I like the safety feeling of that a little better, even though the Avid lock is not going to slip out of the way, the Pro just looks
a little more secure the way I'm used to a liner lock looking.
Sharpness????????? Again, easily shavable! I'm just blown away on how sharp these Bucks are!!!......Thank you Buck Family!!!!
I've spent about 5 days with the Avid as EDC, then about 3 days with the
Sirus as EDC, next will be the Pro.
Amazing kinves the BUCK knife. Fairly simple, not overly flashy, just Solid,
Dependable, and Great looking Tools.
BUCK fever is Burning deep inside me!!!:D:D:D:D:

:)Great pictures Sonny. The Vantage line is a terrific value for sure.

And trust me, the Buck fever is a tough one to get rid of. Not that you want to! :)

Nice knife. Been looking for one. The Buck site was out. I'll get one pretty soon. Glad you found one.

Even though I decided a while back to forego any more liner locks, that one is mighty tempting. How is it to open left-handed? It looks like the liner might be in the way...

Knice nife Sonny, I love mine. Sharpest knife I've ever handled and it was right out of the box that way.

Put a nice slit in my finger one day when I was screwing around flippin it open and close to annoy the wife. Got a little out of sync and next thing ya know-bandaid time.

Thanks a lot guys, it sure is a Wonderful knife. It makes me feel like I've
wasted some money along the way on some other brands. I like a lot of
other brands, but there's one thing that has been troubling me about them.
It seems it's getting harder and harder to find a good knife made in the
U.S.A. I'm seeing 100 and 200 dollar knives that are made in China, Tawain,
and who knows where?? These are nice knives. don't get me wrong, but
nothing disheartens me more then opening a blade and seeing CHINA on
it. I have nothing against the Chinese people as a whole, and I'll just leave
it at that because I don't want to turn it into a Political rant. I just don't
see how people can charge 100-200 for a knife made there, when you can
buy a Wonderful knife made here in the U.S.A., with the price you can buy
a BUCK for. Even their retail prices are way lower then most of these
other companies.
Nothing makes me smile more then a nice quality product built right here!!

No offense to any other country or nationality meant, I just like things built
in my own country, as people in other countries hopefully have pride in their
country.
Anyway Thanks guys!!!

Blue Sky, I myself am a Lefty. I mostly use the back flipper with my index
finger, but I can still get my thumb into the thumb slot easily enough to
open the blade. It's definitely easier in my right hand, but it's still workable
with my left.

Regards Sonny

Yeah Sonny,I've been picking up old USA made tools for years at flea markets. Those old USA made tools are really well made, compared to most of the new stuff for sale. The few USA tools that are still being made are EXPENSIVE:eek: For example a new Snap On, little wrench can set you back more than the price of a Buck 110. I have always considered a Knife to be a tool and the quality of a Buck is second to none.I flat out refuse to buy anything made in a communist country if I have a choice. That's just me;)

SonnyD, nice Vantage Pro knife you got there... ... I haven't got one yet, but I'm working on it... I need get out to BP someday... Thanks for sharing and great pics... ... ITE

skyhorse, yeah I know about the tools. I've picked up quite a few tools through the years. I used to be a Motorcycle mechanic, and I've always worked on my cars and everyone elses since I was in my teens. My old Craftsman and SK tools along with the few Snap on I've collected have all been wonderful.
I work part time for NAPA and I don't think we have a hand tool in the store made in the U.S.A., let alone many Auto parts. We've got a lifetime warranty on our hand tools and in 6 years I've seen quite a few come back broken, mostly ratchets but sockets too. I see the frustration on peoples faces everyday when they see where stuff is being made. But like you said U.S.A. made tools are getting very expensive. I know they are better tools though, because I've yet to see a Professional mechanic use any cheap tools when they have to use them daily.
I'm right there with you my Friend!!!

Been carrying the Vantage Pro since beginning of last year. When you can access and deploy a knife, use it and return it to your pocket without really thinking about it...without taking your focus off what you are doing...that was what we were going for

Thank you CJ! I Believe you have definitely achieved that with these
models.
I believe my new Vantage Pro is going to become my new EDC, replacing
my Benchmade 710 McHenry&Williiams which I have been carrying for the last 10 years.
It will be a tough chore to fill, but I think the Pro is up to the task.
One of the reasons I like the Pro so much is the G-10, which is one of the
reasons I like my 710 so much. Both of these knives inspire a lot of confidence
in doing just what you mentioned.
Thank you Sir for building a Fantastic American made knife at a realistic
price.
Regards Sonny

yes it is a great knife
i dont have dally need of one now
(but i do belt carry a 532 now instead a 110)
if i were working again this would fit the bill!

Sonny, CJ , et.al....
I bought my Vantage Pro... ASAP in Dec 08, one of the very very first factory-outs,
AND IT HAS BEEN MY EDC EVER SINCE !!! I love everything about it.
I put away my SpeedSafe Blur after my first hour of using that new VP.
It opens effortlessly, everytime, and S30V in a hollow-grind is EVERSHARP !!!
CJ...Keep up the great work, we need you now more than ever.

buffscales....Glad to hear that:) I have found that after experimenting
with a little different technique, that using the flipper I can now fully deploy the blade. I guess I just wasn't giving my finger enough of a flip before:D

Got a "regular" Vantage Avid and a factory error Pro with G10 scales but Sandvik steel. Both great knives, I think if I could only have one knife to carry it would be the Avid. Almost nothing to complain about on it for me anyway. They could offer a "deluxe" version with some jimping and skeletonized liners and such if they want to, but if they never do I won't be disappointed. The knives are pretty great as is.

That's cool Dave:thumbup:.....I'm still carrying my 110 daily
on my belt in a horizontal carry position, along with my PRO
in my pocket.

Those 532s are the best knives in it's class from any maker.Great edc choice 110 Dave. The blade design on that model really got my attention!I really like the lock design as well.:D

Yep, as I mentioned in another post, went shopping on Friday for a Pro, but all they had left was one Avid. I love it so much I just ordered another online, through Calbellas. Good work Buck!
