Oh yeah. :thumbup:They are in most folks opinion, one of the best values offered by Buck (or any other maker for that matter). Just do a search on the forum and you will find many threads on them.

i really like my vantages!!
i always expect everyone else to also be pleased.

+1

It's a great bang for the buck :D . I'm sorry for that one.

Seriously, I carry it everyday. It's a very solid, nice looking knife.

I have the Pro and Select and I am very happy with both. My preference is the Pro, but the Select has not disappointed me.

The S30V alone, you could pay more for other brands with this (no disrespect intended), but the HT is very good (BOS). The G10 handles very nice. (I might want a little more grip, but it is quality). The liners are very good. I also like the clip, it rides low in my pocket.

Just my 2 cents, but, I think you will be happy with it.

Yeah, you'll be happy:thumbup: Welcome to the forum and to the 1st step to your next Buck:)

I think you will be very pleased. I like both of mine, large and small.

I have a pretty good size collection of a lot of differnet brands. I'd say 90% of them I paid many times more for then the Vantage Pro. You know what
I've been using for EDC for the last several months? My Vantage Pro.
It's just a GREAT knife that is so good and so many different tasks.
If your a knife enthusiast, You'll Love the Vantage Pro. Then you'll wonder
why so many other makers charge sooooo much for their knives!
Regards Sonny

Recieved the knife today. No problems with it, very sharp, blade is centered, and opens easy, also feels good in my hand. I have had bucks since the early 70's, I wanted the s30v blade. I think its going to work for just fine. I've been carrying and using pocket knives since 1954 on a daily bases. I own a varity of different ones. Eye brand,Case, Queen, Cold Steel, K-Bar,Old timer, but over the years I've settled in on BUCKS.

I posted this several weeks ago and did not receive and responses. Sure would appreciate it if someone could comment/verify this info. I have been in the market for a Lg. Vantage Pro for several months. Almost bought one at SMKW in August. Still waiting to make sure...

Apparently, some of the Buck Vantage Pro models have had some issues with blade centering and with the tip of the blade contacting the internal spacer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9A8iAVIOErE

According to the response that I received from Buck (July 12, 2010), "Any date of Manufacture (for the Buck Vantage Pro series knives that were affected by these defects) after March 2010 will have the corrections."

Would be interested to hear feedback/verification from anyone who has a Vantage Pro that has a manufacture date of March, 2010 or later.

I'm assuming that the equipment and people assembling all the Vantage models are probably the same ? Over this last weekend I acquired Both a Avid and a Select - both are older production (Avid very early -Select 09). Both are to my eyes and hands perfect.
Somewhere along the line the "perception" of massive numbers of flawed Vantages apparently occurred. Only Buck would have any idea just how significant in terms of numbers/percentages this "problem" is.
I have only personally inspected four Vantages in total -all older production -all were just fine.
If you are concerned about this problem -this is a strong argument for brick and mortar purchase - so you can inspect and return if there is a problem.I opened my Select at the check out counter after purchase to see what was inside the clamshell.
Anybody know if there's a store in the Milwaukee area (50 mile range)that stocks the Pro models ?

I think the idea of actually going to a brick and mortar store to purchase a knife is good advice, especially in this situation. I also live in the Milwaukee area and can tell you that in the many years I have lived here, I have not been able to locate a good knife store within reasonable driving distance. I was in TN over the summer and stopped in at Smokey Mnt. Knife Works (now that's a knife store!) to look at several models. They did not have any "new production" Vantage Pro knives, but they were "clearancing" the older Buck models.

The vantage pro is a really great knife, Its survived my compulsive trading habit, something that many more expensive knives haven't. If i keep a knife it's a really special knife, and that's what the Vantage pro is.

I've had mine about 2 weeks now and I'm very pleased. It's very easy to open. I use the flipper and with a little flip of the wrist and its locked up.
