i tried out a vantage pro but the molded scales didn't fit my hand very well, and didn't have as much traction as i'd like. does anyone know if the paperstone scales are flatter, grippier, and an easy swap for the pro's handles?

I don't own a paperstone model but I have just about all the rest. I've found that the scales are easily interchangeable between all of them of the same size. The issue would be where you would get the paperstone scales unless you just bought one to take them off of.

that's what i was thinking about doing. i really like the blade shape and steel of the vantage pro. thank you, plumberdv.

You're welcome. Now if you REALLY want some grip, get the Vantage Force Avid. The aluminum scales on that thing has so much grip you can hardly let go of it! I changed out the scales on mine to a set of G10 scales from a Vantage Pro because the were TOO grippy for me.
