Vantage scale swap

I really like the scales on the select model over any of the Avid scales I've handled so far. Anybody done a scale swap yet ? It seems like the "wood" scales are a little thicker - will the bolts interchange ?

I can't see that being a economical thing to do? You can buy the select for a few buck more at many places, and it has better steel. With the costs and shipping of the handles from Buck ( if they would sell you them), I can't see that as the way to go?

I believe that one scale should swap with another. Make sure you put a dowl pin or paperclip or something in the place of the pivot when you take it out. Its a pain in the tukas to get those washers back in place if you accidently let the blade come out.

Tom - I agree that economically this doesn't make sense. But years of using tactikool knives of various makes daily have gotten me used to grippy scales. These are daily use tools for me and the security of my grip is a big deal to me ( I'm old - so my hands don't have quit the strength they once had.)
Buck seems to often combine superior steels with very pretty scales that are to me less than functionally adequate. In the past I've purchased some of their bottom of the line folders that came with excellent "rubber" scales and switched 'em with the very pretty and slippery rosewood scales that came with the more expensive knife.
The Vantage select scales are slimmer/flatter than any of the "wood" scales and have just a bit of texture cast into them. The select scales also trim a few tenths of a ounce off the weight of the knife - not a big deal. I can carry the select comfortably clipped into My right rear jean's pocket. The Avid I've got is just a little thicker and bothers me when sitting in my truck (Princess and the Pea ?) .
So - I'd like to use the Avid because of the steel - but have a functionally superior scale mounted on it.
BTW- the clip on these knives is the best I've ever encountered short of what's on my Caswell EDC.
