I recently purchased a vapor from wal-mart. love the feel ,but not the thumb stud and ease of opening. any tips?

to sticky, angle of thumb stud needs to be rotated clockwise about 90 degrees

No suggestions here, just wanted to say that this is one of the reasons I let go of my Vapor. Nice knife at a great price, just found it incredibly hard to open at first and even after "learning" it, it still felt weird to me. You might want to take a look at the Leek, which is a similar design but opens much more easily.

The stud is just pressed in, so if you can grab it and twist, it will spin. Another option, press it out and replace it the way you want.

Good to know. I picked one, but really dislike the thumbstud, can't even open it left handed. I might try to replace it. It's a great knife except for being hard to open.
