Well, I just got off the phone with a very friendly and helpfull New Graham Knives, and I was told a few things about their Vaqeuros.

He said he had two versions, one there was NO clip and it came with a pouch. The other had the metal clip on the side. He also said one had "Vaquero Grande" on the side of the blade, and the other had "Cold Steel".

Now, my delima is this: I want the NEWHandled version as seen on 1sks. (Im not sure if Im supposed to do this, but here is an image)

That is the version of the handle I want. I see it says Cold steel on the side.

Yet on the same site, they have THIS picture:

This one has the "Vaquero Grande" on the blade, and notches above the thumb stud as well.

Now here is where it gets confusing. Im REALLY in love with the 1st one, I love the handle. But if it comes with no clip, I want to know. SO I NEED a cold steel expert like Glockman to help me through this so I can get EXACTLY what I want with no hassle to New Graham or 1sks.

To clear it up if I was being a little ambiguous- I want the 1st style of handle with the clip. If this is the "old" style, and Im not aware, then thats what I need to know. Someone break this down for me hardcore!!

Edit: I DON'T like the cold steel etching style on most handles (See Voyager series as shown on Coldsteel.com), which is why I like the first one so much. (Its different).

Thanks guys! :D

The old-style Vaquero Grande is the one without the pocket-clip that USUALLY came with a Kydex sheath. The new-style Vaquero Grande comes with a pocket-clip, no Kydex sheath, and a different (better) handle design. The one that you want is the new-style, with the pocket-clip...It'll have "Vaquero Grande" on one side of the blade, and "Cold Steel" (with Made in Japan under that) on the same side of the blade that the pocket-clip is on.

BTW...I just noticed that my "new-style" Vaquero Grande is like the one in the ISKS photo, and the handle is like that pictured in the "WOW" photo.

I hope that this helps.:).

Yes, the older models come without the clip. The original came with a kydex style sheath which I really like. The newer model has the filework and the clip.

I just received the Cold Steel Special Projects "Fourth of July Sale" flier in the mail. They are selling the "El Lobo" for $19.99 and the "El Hombre" for $29.99. Phone # is 800 255 4716. Here is the text:

"The newly re-christened Large and Medium sized Vaquero folders were formerly known as the El Hombre and the El Lobo respectively. We still have some folders that bear the older names and we are closing them out at massive savings to you. These folders are (with the exception of the names etched on the blades) identical to the large and medium Vaqueros"

Hope this helps.

None of that has anything to do with the Vaquero GRANDE.

Thanks Glockman! As always your advice helps tremendously. Im going to trust you!

Im going to call New Graham Knives back just in case and let him describe that knife one more time like you did. Thanks alot!

(I'll keep you updated)

I gotta warn you...If you have never held a Vaquero Grande, you WILL be in for quite a suprise when you receive one! The VG is NOT a small folder, with its' 6 inch fully-serrated blade, and a little over 13 inches opened length!...(I like to think of mine as a folding saw! :D.).

LOL Glockman. I've held my brother's Vaquero (Large) and loved it. Now I want something bigger!

I just got off the phone with New Graham Knives again, with Mike. (Really nice guy, very helpfull).

The knife Im going to get is indeed the new version with the Clip and with both sides saying Vaquero and Cold Steel.

Thanks North Graham Knives! And Glockman!

I have the 6" version w/sheath...BIG is what comes to mind. This knife is an absolute cutting, slashing, stabbing machine, more like a 7” fixed blade than a folder. I keep this weapon with my H&K USP Expert in 45 ACP + mags and ammo!
