What the he!!? i just did a search to find more about the grande and i found somehting called El Vaquero. Now the knife i have i thought its been a vaquero grande with a mis-print on the blade.

But the blade does say El Vaquero. The blade about 5.62 incches last time i measured it.

So what do i have here. Vaquero grande or El Vaquero?

You have 241 posts here and you haven't figured out yet that it takes more than 10 minutes to get a response sometimes?

Chill out.
Cold Steel used to have different names for the different sizes in the Vaquero series. The smalles was El Lobo. The next size, I think, was the Vaquero. The largest Was El Hombre. I may have the last two backwards.
Anyway, a few years back they just changed all the names. I think I still have an El Lobo or two left in my store somewhere.

CS had 4 sizes. El Lobo had a 3" blade, El Hombre a 4", Vaquero a 5", and Vaquero Grande a 6". El Lobo and Hombre (I think) came with serrated or plain edge, and the Vaqueros only with serrated.

The current lineup calls the 3" a Medium Vaquero, the 4" a Large Vaquero, and the 6" remains the Vaquero Grande.

Just like when you brag to the ladies, it's all about where you measure from.

If it's more than 4 and closer to 6 logic would dictate it's the Grande, don't ya reckon?

thats not helping much.

the bladde is well over 5 inches but not 6
You've got a strange blade then. All information says that 5" is El Vaquero and 6" is Vaquero Grande. Since the blade is marked "El Vaquero", I'd probably go with that. The next best thing would be to weigh the knife. The difference in weight is quite noticable. 6.2oz Vs. 4.6oz

Measure straight from the tip of the blade to the front of the handle. Ignore the curves of the edge.

You have a Vaquero Grande. I just measured mine from tip to where the edge stops and it comes up at 5 and 5/8" or 5.63". When measured from tip to the handle it is 6".

If memory serves me, the current production blade markings are Vaquero Grande for the largest model and just Vaquero for the two smaller models.

So I figure you have an older model, from the time when they had El Hombre and El Lobo models. Yours still should be the second largest model, or indeed a misprint.

What is the length closed? That leaves no room for interpretation.

Probably a mistake in printing. There are occassional mistakes with blade length in both advertising and when the blade is ground.

By the way, did you measure from tip of the blade to where the edge stops or all the way to the handle?
