Variable convex questions

I am on the list to get a Soldier River from Iz.

I'm pretty sure I want to get it with the variable convex grind, but I guess I need to hear some user opinions to put my mind at ease.

Does the variable perform better than a standard convex? Is maintaining the edge more difficult? What is your overall opinion and are you happy with it?

Hopefully some more guys will chime in here but I just wanted to say that I plan to get a video up soon on the differences in sharpening a varied convex.
It's not harder, just a little different.

Great question, My Dogwood that is on order will also be varied. Have been wondering about maintaining the edge as well.
 
I haven't gotten the vid up yet but I promise it's coming soon.
I want to finish this batch I'm working on now so I can have some good examples to work with on the vid.
