Seems most like the variable speed rigs. I gotta ask you guys -- how much does variable speed cost? I have found a DC motor (2-3 hp)w/ controller but don't know if his price is right or not. Help ----

Bill, I bought mine from K&G for $535.

Take care!! Michael

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

Bill-

Variable speed really is worth the extra money...all the way around.

It makes it easier to learn on, and when you start using materials like ivory, bone, pearl, etc. you can slow it down so that you don't burn the material.

So it's important for a beginner and expert. Not a have to, but I sure like it.

My Burr King was bought with a variable DC drive, but seems that most places are looking for $5-600.

I have heard of an occasional set-up on ebay or the like for less, but not too often.

Check your email and give me a call
