Allow me to show off this pair of Walden Muskrats I just acquired.. These are "culls" from a guy who is upgrading his collection! Can you believe it?? They originally came from the factory collection, so I guess they qualify for the Off The Wall group!
Anyway, I never thought much of Muskrats, and so never looked for them, but I'm starting to appreciate this graceful yet purposeful pattern. These have some variation, so I stretched the budget and bought them both.
For your viewing pleasure:) !

Very nice! Both with the Wonda-Edge blades, though one as master and one secondary. Unusual to say the least! That makes them 1957-58 or later by the way. I am seeing quite a few folding knives with that Wonda-Edge now, even an Imperial from that era which I have. Have not yet seen it on an Ulster, but I wouldn't be surprised.

It's nice to get time frames, Thanks Codger. The lower one is marked stainless, the other is not. Is it likely carbon steel, or could it be SS also?

I just noticed the WE etch said patent pending. I went back to my catalogs and the 787WE is indeed listed in 1957. February 1958 is when the patent issued. The listing does say stainless. The '57 catalog also lists the 787, but doesn't call it stainless. It is listed as stainless in 1960, so perhaps it was all along?

I'm fighting the temptation to touch the blade with vinegar. There must be a less destructive test for carbon steel. I wonder if BRL knows?
