Well, I had a good day yesterday. I was on the way home from having lunch with my wife at her office, and I decided to stop by a little variety/junk store that I'd passed a few times. I wasn't expecting much of anything, it's kind of a little hole in the wall place, but just wanted to look around. So I went in and was looking over a meager knife selection, mostly Chinese and Pakistani stuff, when something caught my eye. I took a closer look at the case and sure enough, there was a small single blade linerlock knife with the Uncle Henry shield. I didn't let my hopes get up yet, expecting one of the new Chinese Taylor brand ones, so I asked to see it. I opened the blade up and there were the words I was hoping to see, "Schrade+ USA". The guy was wanting 15 for it, but since it didn't have a box and had been sharpened at least once, I managed to talk him down to 10. So I'm now the new owner of a razor sharp (trust me, I know this for a fact), lightly carried, USA made Uncle Henry 197UH cat's paw linerlock.:D Just goes to show, they're out there if you're willing to look.

Interesting and enviable:D

Can you explain cat's paw liner-lock though please?

Basically a little hump at the top so you can thumb the liner over.

Here is a pic of a re-handled 197UH.

I'm glad Bastid beat me to it. Truthfully, I had no idea why it was called a cat's paw. I just assumed it was Schrade's way of naming them, like the "Sharpfinger" or the Old Timer "Middleman" stockman...Learn something new everyday!

I like the look of that rehandle Bastid, interesting jigging pattern!

Nice find. I am always searching old stores/pawn shops for anything interesting. There is one I will be stopping at tomorrow during lunch that a co-worker told me about. There is even a little knife show this weekend in Kenner, LA that may have an old knife or two. Ummm, on second thought, they won't have anything. Forget I mentioned it. Don't even bother to look. :)

Too late JimMLA, I'll be there before the doors open with a pocket full of cash...:D ;)

*Ring, Ring*
"Hello, Kenner Police department"
"Hi, can I speak with the chief, tell him it's Jimmla"
"Jimbo!, How's the wife and kid"
"We are all just fine, Steve." "Hey, I got a hot tip for you" "I heard there is going to be a umm, terrorist, yea a terrorist going to the knife show Saturday."
"How can my boys identify him?"
"He will be at the door before the show opens, and his pockets will be full of cash."

j/k

No luck today, but the owner showed me his EDC. A very used SAK that he said he had taken from someone he arrested 20 years ago when he was a cop. The owner pointed to his display case of pawned knives and said, "This is all crap from China". I hope I have better luck tomorrow.
