I'm sure this has been discussed, but I can't seem to find it in the Search mode.

I'm interested in knowing what you all think of these three things:

1) Laminated Obeechee (Obichi?) handles. Like'em or not as far as appearance and durability. Or do you like the old ebony scales better?

2) Sheath - Do you like black leather, brown leather, or black Cordura? Is the Cordura sheath less abrasive on the bolsters?

3) Plain handle or finger grooves?

I found a lot of posts on the 420HC steel (mostly good BTW) so there's no need to open up that can of worms again.

Thanks!

1> Well, I've never been to Obeechee
But I kinda like the music
Say the ladies are insane there
And they sure know how to use it
The don't abuse it
Never gonna lose it
I can't refuse it
Well I never been to England
But I kinda like the Beatles
Well, I headed for Las Vegas
Only made it out to Needles
But I been to Oklahoma
Well they tell me I was born there
But I really don't remember
In Oklahoma, not Arizona
What does it matter
What does it matter

I could do "Ebony and Ivory" but that is next week's show...

2> I like the Genuine Corinthian Cordura with the horizontal option (like the one on my belt now with the Jersey Guide)

3> FG

And, not that you asked, but NS bolsters.

I prefer the older ebony scales but dont mind obeechee,
black cordura sheath,
plain handle... :)

TAH,

1. I like and prefer the ebony, the laminate is very durable:).

2. I would choose leather...the cordura is less abrasive.

3. Fingergrooved.

4. I like Goose's response:D ;) :D.

Thanks Mr. P., I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip your cocktail waitress.

Hey TAH...use a piece of self stick felt like for chair/stool legs so floors don't scuff, or the cloth side of a self stick velcro set...cut that piece to be a bit larger than the inside of the snap of the sheath. This will prevent that inside portion of the snap from scuffing up your wood liner.
Tip from Heloise...ah, I mean, Five-0 Mike. It works.

Yep, sounds good, Goose. I've done that before on other sheaths. Thanks for the reminder though.

My 110 came with a Cordura sheath. Regarding the leather sheaths, I assume the inside leather itself is fairly rough on the bolsters?!?!?

It's not only that...unless your a better housekeeper that I;), there is a good bit of debris/dirt/grit etc. that collects in the inside of the sheath, I feel that is what does the most scratching/marring. Preston

The leather sheath also seems to speed up discoloration of the brass bolsters...whether this is because the leather holds in moisture, or because the leather contains curing chemicals (or both), the brass will turn dark and then a greenish color unless cleaned...

IOW: Don't store your knife in the sheath! :D

Ditto what Trax said. Well, the brown leather sheath is the most reactive. The black one is not too bad. The cordura is really no problem. These looked the same three months ago. They'll look the same again after polishing.

Is your Cocdura sheath both vertical and horizontal carry?

Yeah, I think there are a couple of us here that are more than just Buck Nuts. Emphasis on "Nuts".

I keep searching "the" auction site for a 110 NS FG but never seem to find one :(

Yes, it carries both ways and it smells like new Nike gym shoes.

Side question: How long did it take all of you to cut the "Made in China" tag off the back of your Cordura sheath? I don't want to brag, but I think I challenged light speed for the first time. :D

What?!?!?

I thought it was like a pillow tag...can't cut it off under penalty of law.
Ha ha...I crack myself up.

My tag came off the first day. Still has the white 110 tag though.
