Would someone please direct me to an explaination/diagram of the various types of folder locking mechanisms? I see "liner lock", "axis lock" and others mentioned the the forum but I'm not sure what they look like. Any help for the ignorant would be appreciated. :)

Sorry can't help ya. I know from experience I like framelocks the best. They are rock solid(Strider). But looking forward for such diagrams also.

Kershaw has an innovative lock available on a few models called the stud lock. Here's a link to a bladeforums post with some good (albeit linty) pictures of it:

This lock snaps into position via a spring onto ledges on each top front corner of the frame, and is held there by the lockup itself. Release involves pushing (or pulling) the studs towards the tip of the blade, and can be accomplished with one hand, although I prefer two. It is rock solid, and I really like it.

Currently found on most of Kershaws Bump models, the Offset models, and the Mini Mojo.
