What’s the difference between vasco wear and cruwear?
I have a spyderco delica in 440v and hear it’s the same as cruwear ?
And also have some 1970’s gerber 7223’s with vasco blades.

anyone know if there’s a difference? Or if it’s all the same, under a different name

Vascowear was the original and was not a powder steel. Currently CPM Cruwear is the same composition but made using the powder process and works out to be better for knives because of it. Vascowear is long gone. PD#1 and Z wear are the same thing as CPM Cruwear but sold by different companies.

440V/S60V is not the same as Cruwear/vascowear. It is a stainless steel and Cruwear isn't.

That's an old knife. The alloy name "440V" has been used for almost two decades. The name "S60V" was substituted for it. But I don't believe the alloy has been made for many years. It's stainless like its cousin S30V. S60V is not very similar to cruwear.

We have plenty of CPM S60-V available for anyone who wants it. It's not a big mover so I don't think any of our distributors carry the grade.
