As stated in the "500,000 candlepower" thread, I picked up this spot for $15 the other day at Target. After charging for 12 hours, it was ready for its first use last night as I let my dogs out. I am HUGELY disappointed in this light. It's not as bright as the little $7 xenon flashlight I picked up at the same time and the beam looks terrible. The only thing it has going for it is cool looks and some decent throw, but I'm sure my G2 could outthrow it anyway as the little silver $7 light came darn close. Here are some reasons to avoid this light:
1) 8-10 hour charge time for only an hour or so of runtime.
2) 3 stage switch is annoying. You have to click the trigger 3 times to get to the max brightness level
3) The first two levels of light look like maglites with dead batteries. There is almost no time I'd need that little light.
4) It takes a second or two to turn on, much like the 3 and 6 million candlepower lights. To me, this is stupid for a cheap 1 million candlepower light. All of the other spots I've seen have istant-on. Combined with the multiple stage switch, it feels like FOREVER before you actually get light.
5) Poorly shaped beam. The only time it looked good was at 50 yards.
To be fair, it does have some things going for it. The small area light on top is fleurescent, which I like. It has battery level indicator LEDs and a nice wrist strap, and it includes AC and DC chargers. However, for me these features don't make up for the terrible switch and the dimness. I will be returning this light tomorrow and picking up the yellow $15 spotlight from Vector instead, which has a good review on flashlightreviews.com and looks to be better for my uses.
