Just wondering how many of you have vehicles with 100,000 miles on them? What kind of vehicle to do you have and how does it run now as compaired to when you got it?

I have a 1996 Ford F-150 that I just rolled 100,000 on and it runs as good now as it did 2 years ago when I got it with 67,000 miles on it.

What is everyone elses experiences?

Bought a new 1973 Chevy Nova...turned 100,000 miles on the day I sold it. Really don't know how many more miles it wound up with but I had a good ride for 11 years.

I've got a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am that brought my 10 year old son home from the hospital when he was born. It has 215,000 miles on it. Still does'nt use any oil and everything still works on it. The front struts have been squeaking for about 80,000 miles so I need to replace them I guess. My wife drives 65 miles one way to her job and she has a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix with 115,000 or so miles on it. It runs ok too. I think GM makes a pretty decent V6. :)

Got a new BMW 325e in 1984 and drove it 240,000. It still ran great when I parked it for good in '99, only because I needed 4 doors. Bought a '99 Explorer 4x4 and have 109,000 on it. I get some kind of strange pleasure from driving a vehicle until it disintegrates. Seems like you can make most vehicles run just about forever if you give it 'em little TLC and change the oil regularly.

best regards

My wife and I have three cars with over 1K mark. I drive a '97 VW Jetta with about 133k on it. It still runs like a top(knock on wood). She drives a '98 Subaru Legacy wagon with around 110k. It seems to do pretty good too. Our third is a '95 Jeep Wrangler with over 180k. It is the only vehicle that was bought used (about 3 years ago) and it starts every time and purrs like a kitten.

If you have a car that passes that 100k milestone than it is definitely a keeper in my book. I will never buy new again because it is simply too costly. Not to mention there are far too many good used vehicles available. This practice will leave me more $$ left over to buy more (and more...) knives.

'94 Mazda B3000 pickup 156,000- still doing o.k.
'94 Honda Accord wagon 185,000 runs great. I love that car and I'm thinking we'll get to 300k on it.

'91 Acura Legend - 261,000. Runs quiet, strong, great. No engine or tranny rebuild. Oil change every 4-5K. Tune-up every 60K. V6, 23 mpg.

Couple year ago I bought a 97 Toyota 4runner,when I did this I gave my brother my 92 toyota pickup. The pickup has well over 200,000 miles and still runs as good as it did when I first bought it with 141,000 miles. The 4runner now has about 106,000 miles and is still going strong. I love buying a good used car,you end up saving so much money. it Just makes sense.

My 1994 Mazda MPV currently has 178,000 on it which I think is great considering it has been driven by 4 different people ,including 2 kids who learned to drive in this car. Oil changes 3K - 4K miles (dusty conditions) and do not neglect the tranny, diff oil and brake fluid flushing. I guess the MPV has a history of trannys crapping out early on. I am waiting for mine to go.
My highest mileage car was A '79 Mazda RX7 which I retired at 225,000 due to oil burning. That and 225,000 ond the chassis of a sports car. That was the best car I ever owned. Fun and reliable.

I'm gonna drive this over to Gadgets & Gear.

PLEASE READ THE STICKY AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT WHERE TO POST SOMETHING! :grumpy:

Got a Geo Metro that I have driven to NJ and Kalifornia from Alabama for military duties, all within the last 2 years.

The car is just over 114,000 miles.

Having some trouble with the suspension (control arm, axle) but otherwise alright.

Still gettin' almost 50 miles to the gallon, too.

I got an 88 Honda Civic DX Hatchback when I went away to college in '88.

I sold it in 2001 with 150,000 miles on it. At that time, it ran great, no work besides normal scheduled maintenance. I saw the guy I sold it to a few weeks ago, he had just passed 200,000 miles, again, no work besides normal maintenance. I'm guessing it'll go at least 250,000 or more before it needs anything. It still doesn't use any oil, smoke, or show any signs of wear.

Pretty darned amazing.

I had a Nissan King-cab pickup with the 2.4L fuel injected engine and a 5 speed manual transmission. I sent it down the road with 141,000 on it, no major maintanence and factory brakes. I have no idea where it is now but, I think it would be good for 250K without any major issues given regular maintanence. Not bad for a relatively cheap pick-up when new.

My current car is a Rover 218 diesel with 105,000 miles and still going strong.

I ran a Mercedes 307D van for years and sold it with 560,000 miles on the clock. It did have a rebuild and a brand new engine in that time, though.

Andrew.

100,000 is nothing. I sold one 1985 Saab 900 at 350,000 plus, only minor repairs. I lost another Saab 1988 to rust at 250,000, it was a Vermont car that no one ever washed. I have a BMW 325is 1992 now with 133,000 on it and no signs of slowing down. With synthetics and better engineering I think the bar should be set at at least 200,000-250,000 these days.

:) 97 S-10 Blazer V6 295,000, ran good up until two days ago. I think the fuel pump is going out. Leaks a little oil, never any major work on it other than one clutch and one prior fuel pump.

I have an old Toyota Pickup with over 260K. Runs great, no problems, just regular maintenance.

i always drive my vehicles beyond 100k...usually 130k-150k

my wife gets every new car ...then i drive it when it gets old

my 96 ford explorer v8 xlt awd has 103k...its probably good for 50k more but too many fishing trips have given it an undesirable "ambience" and i will buy a new one soon...i hate to spend so much money on something that loses value so quickly though

my wifes suburban has close to 70k in 3 years...the explorer only put on 5k miles in the last 2 years...a 2 mile commute helps!!!!

1986 Nissan D21 pickup V6, 5 speed. Bought it new, speedometer cable broke a couple of years ago with 364K showing.
