Velcro band for Luminox Titanium watch?

I have recently acquired a Luminox Titanium watch. I love the watch, but hate the rubber dive band. The end constantly comes loose ands is very annoying. I would prefer a clasp band like the one on my Tag or my Casio Pathfinder, but don't know where to find a high quality one at a reasonable cost. I would also go for the velcro one if I can't find a nice clasp, but I hate the logos all over the Luminox one. I want a plain black one.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Steve

I'd go with the 22mm Rhino band from Westcoastime.com. It's not velcro, but it's just as secure if not more secure and isn't noisy to put on or take off. If I get my Bill Yao modified Luminox 3001 tomorrow, I'll post a pic with a modified Rhino.

Like the NATO strap, the Rhino is double -- one strap goes through the spring pins (or fixed pins; it'll work just as well with them) and the other goes under them. When you take it off your wrist the watch can't slide off the strap and fall on the floor.

Also like the NATO, it's long enough to wear over a wet suit or flight suit -- some people cut off the excess length, others double it through the rings again. The Rhino is much better quality than the milspec NATO, better fabric and the hardware is real stainless steel not plated brass. You can throw it in the washing machine when it gets dirty and the rings won't turn green.

I also support the nomination for the Rhino!

I got one a couple of weeks ago for the Seiko diver and have been very glad that I did. It's comfortable and feels very high quality.

I also have a Waterborne strap on a Wittnauer diver. The Waterborne is very good as well, but in comparing the two, my number one is Rhino.

The only difference I do is I mounted the strap in reverse. Normally the buckle end is on top and the strap with holes is on the bottom. I reverse this so that the excess, tucked strap is on my inside wrist (w/Rhino logo on the outside wrist). This is so when my arms are on the table, I'm not feeling the steel loops and the 1/4 inch of tucked strap.

I recommend this mounting if you get the Rhino.

Plus the logo is way cool!

Here's a pic of a Bill Yao dialed Luminox 3001 with a modified Rhino strap:

I cut the shorter section with the second set of steel rings so I could position the watch body in the middle of the strap. I then melted the cut end on a stove flame.

Yep, 22mm for all the ones that are derived from the original SandY P650 design, including the stainless steel and titanium versions.

I received one of these Rhinos a few days ago. Greg has the right idea with cutting and melting the edges of the secondary smaller band. I tried the recommended way to hook my Luminox up. But found it bulky and got in the way of my sleeves. The steel rings clunked and scratched a few things while moving about. It' s overall appearance just looks plain ugly!

So here is the method I found that eliminated the troubles. I started with the way the band arrived- with the main (longer) strap already looped thru the 2 steel rings of the smaller one. I simply slid the watch onto the band til it reached the 2 steel rings of the smaller band. Then simply strap and buckle on the normal way. That' s it! You now have 3 steel rings on the bottom of the wrist with only one exposed since the extra length can be doubled thru. The other 2 steel rings rest at the top of the wrist facing towards your body. I have worn it since without removing. It is quite comfortable, stable, secure and appears way compact than original! For those who prefer the bottom 3 steel rings to be angled differently, simply wear the watch in reverse with buckle facing the opposite way. Or loop the watch thru with the 12 oclock marker in reverse. The single exposed steel ring at the bottom of the wrist can even be cut and discarded. All one needs to do is cut the band a bit to match this.

Not a bad deal for $15 each at www.westcoastime.com

Thanks Greg.

Nakano:)
