Well, interesting discussion with Council Tool this morning -

Their Velvicut axes have been such a hit they are in the planning stage of bringing in a new model - a double-bit with a (approximate) 3 lb. head. It will come with a sweet leather sheath

If they satin finish the head...I will probably be their 1st customer :D

A 3 lb. head is just a little heavier than the standard cruiser weight double bit but a little light for a full size double bit felling axe. Whatever the handle length I'll definitely buy one, I've been hoping Council would offer their Velvicut series in a double bit version. I Would also like to see them offer the Velvicut in a boys axe version.

Sounds cool, I wonder if I will be able to get one up here in the great white North.

I've been wondering why CT hasn't offered a DB or a boys axe in their Velvicut line for awhile. Just seems to me that they would take their best sellers and offer them that way.

The DB is great news. I have their Hudson Bay and their Dayton Velvicuts, They are very fine axes.

Field testing a CT against a Kelly Perfect. It was a draw.

I might have to keep an eye out for that.
I'm with Double Ott... I'd like to see a Velvicut boys axe too :)

I'm with them. Velvicut boys axe.

Double Ott, that axe next to the council HB is a beauty. What is it? love the color of the handle. Must be old?

Thanks...It's a Plumb, boys axe size. The head pattern is like a wide bit Michigan with a rafting type poll on it. She is a sweet one. I don't know if the poll is hardened.

That is an awesome axe, Tom. If the poll is hardened then it's off-the-charts cool. I'd test it. I would just need to know.
