I attended the gunshow in Ventura yesterday with my best friend and never expected to come away with anything Buck. We always go just for an outing but I rarely find anything that is worth buying or if it is worth buying, is terribly over priced. I came away yesterday fairly pleased with what found and purchased. Another plus was running into Ed Youngman who works with Leroy Remer. Ed had a very large table covered with many Bucks for sale, some factory but many of (his?) and Leroy's creations. We had met twice before at the Pasadena show and I spent a good period of time with him just chatting.
The first Buck I ran across was a mint condition 3 line, four spacer 105 with sheath. No box or paperwork but the seller kept it wrapped in tissue when it wasn't out for display. He had a $50 price marked on it, so for me it was a no brainer. I took it with no bargaining. I then found a black fold over sheath for a 110 that doesn't appear to have ever been used or even had a knife in it. $10 for that one wasn't a steal, but since I have a bunch of tan or brown ones but no black that I could recall, I took it for that.
In the next building, I spotted a sweet little old lady behind one of the tables with her chihuahua in her lap. Having a soft spot for those little dogs (I have two) I had to stop and meet her "baby". I noticed a small fixed blade flap over sheath in one of their display cases and asked to see it. When I opened it, it contained a well used, but fairly nice condition BUCK* 102. I asked the price and her husband said $20 so that was a done deal. It will benefit from some TLC and perhaps a trip to Buck's spa, but I may just leave it as is.
All in all, it was a good day. Quality time spent with a best friend of 55+ years, a visit with another Buck collector and a few goodies.
