Hello again,

Just had a long conversation with Darrel. Here's some more info:

There will be a trainer blade! Approximately $100. (this was my 10 Y.O. daughters idea - she flips my 40T more than I do)

That means total blades available for the Venturi will be 6; that is a full 1/2 dozen blades for this system!

As Darrel stated in the other Venturi thread, the knife is available as a whole set. The big news is that the 1st 10 sets will be serially numbered, with each blade, and the handle marked and matched! (Dawkind already has 007 locked up).

Steel handles

Steel handles are a reality. They are available one of two ways.
  1. you can order your Venturi with steel handles
  2. You can order steel handles along with your Ti handled Venturi
  3. You can order steel handles separately at a later time
    [/list=1]

Steel handles will be available with inlays such as Carbon Fiber & Pearl.

Because of tooling costs, the more of us that order steel handles, the less expensive they will be.

    Keep the questions coming.

OK, Here's a question,...

What is one of the sets going to cost...??
What is one Venturi (basic model) going to cost.

The cost of some knives seems to be a very taboo subject in some knife circles...

I don't think that Dawkind has ever owed up to what he has paid for any of the gems he produces for our visual parousement...

Blade, just so you know, it isn't that Me and Larry Davidson don't want to talk about price, we don't quite know how much it's going to be. Once the Steel prototype is done we'll post a general price so everyone knows.

Possibly because he's stealing them. ;) :D

Thanks for the update, ghen. Just a little question, though... Why didn't you just post this in the original Venturi thread?

I am definitely down for the steel handles with inserts.

This is going to be a very interesting bali, interchangeable everything! I wonder
if the handles will be mixable, one steel and one Ti. ;) ;)

And the trainer is an ace idea! Have to get one of those as well! I can see this is going to be a problem...

Thanks Ghen.., wow what a project!

Appreciate you keeping us informed!

I just want to make sure I understand this... You don't have to get all blades at once, correct? I know it sounds like a dumb question, but I just wanted to make sure.

I like how there are so many options with this knife. Would be nice to see what costs will be for the different options.

Just simply email Darrel and he will forward a price list to you, has all the available options on it. Very impressive knife, might take the plunge on it (currently have a knife on order with Darrel).

You are correct, you can get the knife with any of the 6 blade options, which are:

Bowie
spear
dagger (shown in pics)
tanto
Bullnose go to www.darrelralph.com to see this blade
trainer

I got the whole price list from Darrel today, along with all the options you can add on to the knife.
I was about to post it here cause it seems like there's a few people here that want to know about the knife, but I don't want to post it because this isn't my project and I haven't been permission to do so.And besides,it seems like ghen's got all the questions "wrapped" up so if you need to know anything about the knife and the options i'm sure he can answer it for you.So if anybody want's to know all the details on the knife, like what it's going to cost and what the options are and their cost, either email Darrel directly or ask your question directly to Ghen.
And just in case anybody was wondering what Darrel's trainer is going to look like,on his price list he sent me it say's the trainer blade is going to have the Sheepsfoot/Mariner profile. Not may favorite looking profile, but hey it's one of those rare profile's that we don't get to see often, can't wait to see what it looks like(I wondering if he's going to add some flare to it).L8R

I may change the profile on the trainer. I havent thought it out all the way yet.
I will say this;
The names of the blades are just names.
They all will be outside the curve of conventional blade styles.
I have most of the blades done.
I just dont have time before the shot show to get the line drawings posted. I will post them for comment after the show.

What would you all like to see as a trainer?

I have another idea . Ill tell ya later.

Yes you can buy one blade at a time or the set

You're just TOOO good!! Good luck at the show, can't wait to see what you have in mind!!

I will display my vast blade profile ignorance once more. Could someone tell me defining characteristics of these profiles which all seem very similar to me - dagger, spear, stiletto. Please use small words. :)

You know, I have the same problem.
And in addition, I also have trouble seeing the big difference in bowies and Imada HH's...

Someone please help us!! :( :D

Dagger and stilleto are about the same.. Sorry for the corn fuse-un
A spear is different.
A spear has a full grind not a double grind.
It iw a utility blade.
The tip is tough on a spear also. There is a very minor clip on top.
This leaves the tip thicker.

Ok, then I have to ask another stupid question to get this all straight...

What's a full grind, and what's a double grind? What's grind in general? The stilleto/dagger has a double grind?

Sorry for being stupid... :(
