Knife Rights’ Vermont Switchblade Ban Repeal bill that was incorporated into the “Court Procedure; Criminal Procedure; Miscellaneous Amendments” bill, S.109, has now passed both the Senate and House and is off to the Governor for his anticipated signature. Once signed the effective date will be July 2, 2025

The bill removes “switchblade knives” from the existing statute, §4013. Even better, S.109 also contains another very important provision, the first we’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing passed, that requires that any conviction for possession of a switchblade prior to July 1, 2025 be “expunged!”

We sincerely appreciate the efforts of longtime Knife Rights friend Senator Patrick Brennan who we have supported for over a decade as he has worked in the House and now in the Senate to repeal the state’s ban on switchblade (automatic knives) knives three inches or more in length. These are the only knives specifically outlawed in Vermont.

Vermont has Constitutional (Permitless) Carry so, you can carry any legal firearm open or concealed and you can carry any knife open or concealed except a switchblade with a blade 3 inches or longer. That’s the only knife that you weren’t allowed to even possess in Vermont. It’s past time to get rid of this archaic and irrational knife ban.

Knife Rights is America’s grassroots knife owners’ organization; leading the fight to Rewrite Knife Law in America™ and forging a Sharper Future for all Americans™. Knife Rights efforts have resulted in 53 bills enacted repealing knife bans and protecting knife owners in 32 states and over 200 cities and towns since 2010.

Knife Rights is one of the few Orgs that actually gets things done! Thanks for for fighting for our freedoms.
