Pam Taylor just called and informed me that Vern passed away approx. 9:30 a.m. (PST) this morning. She thanks everybody for their prayers and concern during Vern's illness. Just as from the onset of the diagnosis of terminal pancreatic cancer, Pam's faith remains strong that their Heavenly Father has a better plan than she can understand from her earthly perspective. As soon as funeral arrangements are made, I will post them. It may be a while as their oldest son is in the midst of a move and Pam said the service may even be next week.
Please keep Pam and the family in your prayers. She is hoping to still attend the 15 yr. anniversary event in El Cajon next month.

First, a big thank you to all of you out there praying for me; I appreciate it more than I can tell you. The current status is that I do have terminal pancreatic cancer that has spread to my liver and lymph system and is incurable by medical science. I am taking chemotherapy because the doctors feel they can slow it down and maybe give me as long as one year (that looks really good to me right now). I do well (except chemo days) for a few hours a day now that the doctors have my liver functioning again at about 1/2 capacity.

I am still trusting God, I know that He has a reason for this and a plan for it. Many wonderful things have come out of this situation so I am beginning to see, in my case, how "All things work together for good for those who love God..." Romans 8:28

I WILL be back on the Forums, ready to answer any questions about the old days and I DO plan on being at the Buck Collectors Club 15th Anniversary get together in El Cajon in July. In fact I am looking forward to that with great anticipation. I hope to see many of you there and I will have special presentations for Buck and for the club.

I still covet your prayer, it is a great comfort and, we do not know the mind of God, He may yet grant me a miracle.

Vern Taylor, Founder of the Buck Collectors Club

This was his last post, on 6-05-03. Though I knew him briefly, I wish I had a fraction of his faith. My deepest condolences to Pam and the family. I hope the BCC can do something to remember him. Vern will be deeply missed . . . .

after reading his post, im wordless, my condolences to his family, and all the members of the buck collection club.

The Lord has called one of his faithful servants home. Vern was always willing to share his knowledge about Buck knives. Nearly every one of his replies to my questions also included a testament of his limitless faith. My prayers go out for his family. A part of what makes the Buck Knife family so special is gone. Gone from this world, but never forgotten. Vern's legacy in the world of knife collector's and in the Buck Collector's Club will live forever. He gave so much, so freely and so willingly that there can be no doubt he is with his Savior as we remember him in words. Though I never met the man, I feel as if I too have lost a friend.

My prayers continue to go out for Vern's family and those that knew him as a friend. He will be missed.

It's a really sad thing to loose a loved one.
My condolences to his family and friends
Knifedom has lost a great knife guru.

Somehow I just know that his thoughts and writings on Buck Knives will continue to be a source of knowledge and inspiration for future generations of Buck collectors. And that I think, would be how he would have wanted us to remember him.

To Vern Taylor lost to us, but not through time.

I am humbled to know that I have a Buck knife I received from Vern in a trade. It's one of my favorites and spends more time in my pocket than not. Clearly Vern was a wonderful guy, as evidenced by the good feelings he receives here. I know he'll be missed by his family and friends.

Even though I never met the man, and I didn't know him, I still shed a tear when I read this. It sounds like Vern was a wonderful person, and had many friends all over the world. Rest in peace, Vern. Hopefully, I will meet you someday in the afterlife.

Very sad day for me.
I considered Vern a friend and a brother.I will miss him but I know I'll see him again. He's gone home to be with Dad.
Rest easy my friend.

i had emailed vern not more than a week ago in reguards to a question i had on the GRAND SLAM SET and we talked about the lord and of his dedication to the lord as i also have. he was going to send me a little brass Buck emblem for a case i was going to make which was his idea and a great one at that. i will miss vern, never meeting him, only thru emails and as tears run down my face typing this i can see him in the arms of our savior, the lord jesus christ. god bless.

I never knew Vern personally but had shared with him on the forum. His faith and trust in the Savior is truly an inspiration to me. My prayers are with his family. Thank God, death is not the victor "for the last enemy that will be destroyed is death" (1 Cor. 15:26). May we all strive to have such faith. Blessings to all on the forum.

A customer informed me of this tragedy today. I do not recall ever having met him, but I know he was a good man promoting a good cause. He will be missed in the knife community. May he rest in peace.

I am saddened to hear of Vern's passing. I don't know if his wife or family ever read these posts but if so, I send my heartfelt condolences.
May God give you strength and peace as you deal with your loss.

The BCC has lost a great resource and friend.

Vern dedicated a substantial part of his life to Buck Knives as a company rep., avid collector and Founder of our growing Collector Club. I think it would be a fitting tribute if we would dedicate the next Club Knife in memory of Vern Taylor.

I would be interested in hearing the thoughts of our current club leaders.

I agreee!!!

I believe the Club Knife for 2003 is a 470 to match last year's 475 and orders are alrady being taken so I think there should be considerataion given to a special issue. Vern did so much for the BCCI that is would be only fitting to memorialize him with one of the knives he loved.

A SPECIAL ISSUE WOULD EVEN BE BETTER !

It would have more meaning if done this year as a tribute to his life and work.

Great idea !! THANKS
