At the gunshow yesterday i bought a trapper that looked a lot like an Old Timer, with a clip and spey blade, dark brown (?) scales with long, oval ended shield with "Vernon" inscribed in it. On the clip pointed blade ricasso it says in three lines "Vernon" "Ireland" "Stainless". On the clip pointed balde itself it says in two lines "Ross Point Truck Repair" "Post Falls ID 1 877 779 1671". I called them and it was a promotional give away to good customers and the Vernon is a promotional company in Iowa. The man I talked to said they had gotten many compliments on the knife and it was given away in the last 20 years. Apparently made in the Schrade factory in Ireland, but should be older than that, as it closed in 1980? Appears new, never used, not sure of any collector value, but it was worth $5.00 to me.

I think the Schrade Irish factory closed less than a year before the US Factory. Anyone know a specific date?
