I am really overwhelmed and speechless right now, Andi (Humppa) contacted me via email and said he had something for me and requested my address, where I live I don't receive mail with any regularity, but today I heard a horn honk and there was a U.S. Postal jeep coming up my driveway with a package for me to sign for, I was first amazed to have a delivery but even more amazed at how quick the package Andi sent got here from Germany.

I opened it up and read the hand written not, I've received other hand written notes from forum members and keep them all in a wooden cigar box, the next thing I noticed was a box of Gletscher Prise snuff, the last time I had snuff was over 20 years ago in California, so I opened it right up and indulged :-)

the next thing I noticed was what was written on the plastic bag "For My Friend Pete" I can't explain it but that really touched me, Andi was my first forum friend we talked about good beer and harmonicas and Boker knives, I'm not on the forum as much as in the past it was nice to know I still have friends.

Next I opened up the first knife it is a beautiful J.A. Schmidt & Söhne gentleman lobster knife with really nice scales it's really nice,

next a Carl Schlieper canoe knife in stag, very impressed with how solid the construction of this knife is, I'll be putting this knife to work,

and last but not least a Euro,

I am really overwhelmed ( and a little buzzed from the snuff :D) and hope I conveyed my gratitude towards Andi, I'm really proud that he considers me his friend as I've always admired Andi's integrity.
So these treasures bumped my Boker congress out of my pocket and I'll be walking around and working with my new treasures from Germany

Thank you very much my friend,

Pete

Great stuff Andi, very nice gesture to our friend Pete :) You two guys are real stalwarts of The Porch, and I am proud to have you both as friends

Way to go, Andi; very thoughtful, generous gifts (and entertaining Kindergarten stamps)!:thumbup::thumbup:
Thanks for sharing the story, Pete; it was a good pick-me-upper that brought a smile (or three) in the middle of a tough week.:p
Enjoy those special knives and memories!

I´m really glad the package arrived that fast. But I´m more glad that you like the content, my friend.

I wanted to give you something from my side. The snuff is a little addiction on my side (as some of you know ;) ). The Carl Schlieper has been carried regularly in the past and I thought you will like it. The J. A. Schmidt is a vintage piece I wanted to give to better hands.

Well, the kindergarten stamps got added to package but not by me. It seems to be a special edition by german postal service.

Cheers!! :)

Very touching write-up, Pete! You may not be around as much, but your always be a friend and have a prime seat on the porch. Andi, knows who the deserving ones are cause he is one of them. So well done, Andi!!

Very cool. Good to know Im not the only one who holds on to the letters, though mine go in a Mason jar. :D

Andi & Pete, well done gentlemen.

Very nice package Pete ! :)

Very well done Andi !:thumbup::)

Thanks again Andi, I've been enjoying all the treats and thanks for the kind words, Andi is a real gentleman, I'll be rotating these items into my daily carry, the knives are really nice examples of German cutlery.

Thanks,
Pete

This was [almost] my favorite part of your wonderful, wonderfully shared experience.

I suddenly feel I have missed my calling; I was meant to drive a U.S. Postal Jeep.

And honk, of course.

-- Wonderfully done, Andi! I, too, know what it's like to benefit from your friendship, and how much meaning can be packed into the simplest of gestures.

Pete, the "For my friend Pete" catches me by the heart as well, even this far removed.

Well done, in the giving and in the receiving. Thank you both!

Sarah I would like to think it is as charming as I made it sound, in reality it is closer to this

Pete, both you and Andi are long time members and along with Sarah, Jack and Duncan were some of the first members I interacted with...I'm painfully shy:D

I have been on the receiving end of both your and Andis generosity:cool:

Nice to see these friendships last a lifetime...well done to the both of you:thumbup:

Very kind .An understated quietness in this act that shows real generosity.

Good to see you back as well Pete.

Thanks, Will

Thanks everyone, I've been trying to make a point to post and contribute more then I've been able to in the last year and a half, I want to thank Andi again and post some better pictures, I cleaned these guys up and introduced them to my stones and leather

The J.A. Schmidt cleaned up really nice

Pete

So cool! I love seeing these threads, it restores some faith in humanity. There may be great distance but the separation is so small. Well done Andi!! Congratulations Pete. The new images show how much you care, that rocks.
