Hello,
I recently bought a 18" Gelbu Special and everything in the buying experience was great.Every company out there could learn something from HI concerning customers relations.Even cooler,Yahoo sent a survey about my experience with HI and I told them it was great. Then HI sent a e-mail saying thank you.Never seen that before. That was really cool!!

I do believe I'm going to buy another kurki in the near future from HI. :D :D :)

Thanks for your time

Shearer, thanks for the info. You started out with a great model. Check out the deals of the day here, which show up most weekdays. You can get some great prices on some models, when compared to the HI site, which is not bad itself. You will probably see one or two more you might like to have! Most of us started out by finding the HI web site, and from there made our way the Cantina here.

Hope you stick around and let us assimilate you into our weird cult! :D Welcome anyway, and let us know how the Gelbu you got works out for you, or jump in with any questions or comments.

Regards,

Norm

A first purchase and it was a Gelbu Special?

Oh...tha humanity of it...

Have you any idea how many of us built up to getting that model? How many we went through before getting there? How many we bought, tested, sharpened and cared for on our path?

Great start...good job!

Very strange people here ... they own knives which are bigger than many people's entire knife collections ... and they know how to use them! :D

Not only is Himalayan Imports set up to take care of the people who buy the knives, it's also meant to take care of the people who make them.

(cue the dirge music)

An Ominious Orson Welles voice speaks:

"And so it begins........ HIKV (Himalayan Imports Khukuri Virus) claims yet another victum.......Soon his life will change drastically.........Family, friends, career......all will become secondary. His every waking moment will be consumed by the desire to acquire another.....and yet another curvy knife.
He will spend hours staring at a computer sceen pondering his next acqusition. He'll spend days anxiously awaitng the postman. Neighbors will wonder what he gets in those triangular boxes from Reno and why he's suddenly asking them for their old mouse pads.
And that's just the beginning!........................."

(toll the bell, close the book, blow out the candle..........)

(fade to black)
  ;)

Welcome to the Psycho Ward...er....the Cantina, Shearer.

Hi again,
Thanks for the welcome.
Me and my son took the GS for a test acouple of days ago.My boy had his GreatGrandfathers matchete that he had picked up in Trinidad during WWII.Big,heavy blade, very, very sharp.

We took some 4x4's about 3' long and started attacking. The matchete,we discovered would go deeper into the wood ,but would get bound up.The GS never had a problem. The matchete and the GS each took about 2-3 blows to split the posts. When we started in on the salt cedar,it was Katie, bar the door. We cleared the salt cedar in a matter of swings, not minutes, but swings.
Great time was had by all. :)
One question if I may ask,are the best sellers posted on the HI website still current or would anyone know.Just curious

Thanks

I don't know if the HI website still accurately reflects current best sellers. It really hasn't been changed or updated in the year or so I've been surfing it. It is still well worth reading every page of it though. I think I've actually bought 99% of my khuks from the forum, either deal of the day or "for sale" by member.

I never owned a kukri before...........

The GS was the 1st on my list after reading so much on this catina.............

Now I want a GS........... :o

last time I checked, that's still the case (best seller models as listed).

Quite a few orders come in through the store, by the way...

Grabbed one off the website myself, just a few weeks ago.

It's not common to see a Bura 22" GR getting sold as a special...;)
