After emailing yangdu i now have a chiruwa ang khola zooming my way! Excited isn't the word!!!:eek::eek::D:D:D

I'll post some pics when it arrives!! (It may be a little while I'm in the UK!)

be sure and hit it with a good shot of CLP or something VERY early in the ownership experience... my brand new M43 developed rust literally overnight after I got it. Opened package, wiped off excess oil, chopped 1 limb, wiped clean with rag and re-oiled and it still developed a patch of rust covering almost half the blade on one side.....I 0000 steel wooled it off and hit it with CLP....has been great since, but my mirror polish on that side is now steel wooled into more of a matte finish...I'll get a power buffer and get it back to right, but in the UK with you're humidity....I can just imagine how quickly you'll run into the same issue.

Only thing I can think of is the rag I wiped it down with must have been just a very slight touch damp and left some near microscopic moisture on the blade....

Be careful with a power buffer around the hardened area. Why not just use a rag and some polish?

It's also a bit odd that it rusted, even though you re-oiled it after use. What did you use?

Rem oil the first time... its always worked on all my other knives and I buy it in bulk due to having a fairly extensive collection of firearms....never had anything rust on me, especially not that quickly.

Trust me, I'm just as flabbergasted as anyone else.... the other 5 blades used that day ( all HI kuks ) show no sign of rust at all and I used the same cloth and oil on them as well.....dunno.../shrug

I take it then that petroleum products do not harm the wood on the sheath?

Getting back on topic with this thread: Glad to hear it, Tommy345! I ordered a CAK as well. I'm a bit surprised you're allowed to just order blades like that in the UK since pocket knives are outlawed I believe. Sorry, I'm ignorant of the laws there.

I bought some mineral oil once and it had moisture in it. I wiped the blade down and next day it had a light surface rust. Maybe my rag was damp too. Anyway fresh rag and new min oil and no problem. I also left my 20" AK outside stuck in a stump once and just the morning dew rusted one side as well. It will give it the satin finish like you say but no problem. After a few years of use you wont even notice it.

Grats Tommyd on your new blade and welcome! Awesome tool and a gorgeous bombproof knife!

The laws are fun. Carrying anything over 3" non locking foldable blade is illegal. But anything under that is fine to carry in public. What you have at Home and use on private land is fine, so restrictions :)

At least you still get to have some fun! I got my CRKT M21-14SFG because all my small knives kept getting lost and fall out of my pocket. That thing is almost too big to lose! And the pocket clip is tough!

Enjoy the khuk!

Shipped, Knife will arrive there this week.

WOOHOO!!! I guess I'll need to be around a lot, can't imagine the postman fitting it through the letter box :D

Just out of curiosity for us less worldly folks what don't get out much, how much is a quid?

I believe a quid is a pound. Kinda like a buck is a dollar. So 50 quid is more than a KLVUK in import tax!

Yup it's expensive, but WOAH what a kukri! I'm off out to do some chopping today. Very happy with everything!

Yes a quid is a pound :)

Well give us a report this eve. if you can pry you hands from it. Pics are always good too.;)

No pics I'm afraid! But here is what I did with a few hours in the woods.

So my task was straight forward, I was making a bench. I had my auger and needed to drill the holes in a log.mfirst I needed to cut a piece of hazel for the leverage to spin the auger. One swipe and a one inch piece of hazel was down. Iv used lots of knives before and it felt like nothing for the CAK. Next for the legs. I went for a large branch and cut them into rough pieces. Next I had to shape the ends of the stumps to fit in the holes. No problem. My usual blade for the task would be my GB wildlife hatchet, but the CAK surprised me again! Chopping was easy, using just the weight of the blade, and minimal effort I soon had four stumps with a rounded top about an inch thick and 3 inches long. Last job was to knock them into place. Turning the CAK upside down I tapped the stumps into the hole.

And that's it! The CAK surprised me, I knew it was going to be a good blade but wowza! I think Next year I may purchase another HI kuk :)

Overall very very happy! It has earned a perminant place in my pack :D

Glad you enjoy your new blade! They do make great camp blades thats for sure! I can almost picture that bench anyway without pics. Thanks for the report. Ill have to try that sometime. I guess id need to get me an auger tho.
