I just found a Busse in mint condition ("Mean Street"). I love it (0.25 inch thick and it feels great in the hand. I want a good looking, perhaps lighter weight small blade, to carry --- probably in a Kydex sheath. (Almost a gentleman's knife look but a knife one could actually use for light chores) I know it could cost a bit but I'm not looking to spend a mint either --- production or well priced custom. Thanks!

Seems like the Spyderco Street Beat would be right down your alley. Small, lightweight, 3" VG-10 blade, poished micarta handles, and comes with a kydex sheath. Also has an excellent fit & finish. The Street Beat would definitely fit the categorey of a "gentlemans" fixed blade.

Blind Horse knives have a bunch that would fit what you're looking for. Most are made from O1 with micarta handles and fall in the 50-150$ price range. They come with leather sheaths but if you give them a call they can do kydex for you.

++ on Blind horse knives. The Frontier valley or patch are great in the hand, and I assume they could do a kydex sheath for you. Or a little bigger, check out the maverick scout or colt.

Big Fan of Blind Horse Knives here too. Realy nice fixed blades made in the us, and they are priced just right. I have a Woodsman pro I use for hunting and love it great hunting knife and I have a Small Work horse I use for a Fixed EDC. The Small Work horse is 3" or 2 3/4" inches of D2 with a nice hollow grind holds a great edge and not too big for a EDC fixed blade. The Small Work Horse runs about 120.00 and a Bit more if you want a scandi grind, and that price includes a leather sheath.

Another plug for BHK. They have some good ones and are a great maker. You can also watch the custom area here. You'd be amazed what you can get for around $100.

Well... this will do a hell of a lot more than "light chores", but it's purty.

Bark River Tusk in Desert Ironwood. Also available in many many other handles.

I'd say just find a maker who can make one for you. That small of a blade won't run that expensive, even with high end materials. There's something special about knowing you have the only one of your knife in the world.

And +1 for watching the knife maker market here. I've seen some beautiful blades go through there. I even picked one up for myself that would fit your criteria :)

Big Chris has a couple of nice looking knives in the maker forum right now. 3V steel, 3.25", nice sabre grind. .125 thick. The price is great too! Go have a look, I think you'll like it.

Big Chris sell here? I'd like to contact. Tx.

Might check out Darrin Sanders, RyanW, NickWheeler, Andy Roy, daizee, and, well, just look through the Makers For Sale section. There are so many talented makers on here. Darrin's the only one I have personal experience with, because he does the heat treat on my blades, so I know he can turn a piece of steel into a mean knife. But I've drooled over Ryan, Nick, and Andy's stuff on numerous occasions, and I just saw a sweet little blade that daizee put together that looks gorgeous.
