So at work today I'm doing some quick fixes on a machine and had to cut out and replace some cracked airline tubing. We have had problems with this machine all week so i was in a rush which never ends well. So i cut into the tube which took alot of force, and when the tube split the blade of my ZT 560 slammed into the steel track below it. My heart sank when i saw the rolled edge but i put the knife in my pocket and thought ill do my best to fix it when i get home. 10 minutes on diamonds and some stropping and the edge was back to perfect. Amazingly the edge just flattened on both sides of the apex with no chipping or rolling. They say this stuff is tough but now i believe it.

Good to have some real world experience/feedback on Elmax. Next time take some pictures of the damage and the repair, a picture tells a thousand words...

In retrospect I definitely should have taken pictures but given the amount of force that was on the knife when it hit the steel the edge only deformed maybe ten thousandths of an inch which is very small. Luckily it hit a flat surface rather then a single point in which case the edge almost certainly would have chipped.

I have a NIB 0551 coming in tomorrow, so I'm excited about that.
