Very loose blade stop

Hello I have a problem with my XM-18. I love it so much and I use it almost everyday and I love Ricks work so I'm not trying to make them look bad. So my problem is that the blade stop is very loose and is always moving around. Inside the handle you can see it's off, and when I try to take it out it wont come out. Can someone please help me because I don't want to have to send it in for something this small.

Tighten it up.

If you need to hold the stop, a pair of needle nose pliers probably won't get in there (if the knife is together) you can use a pair of electirial pliers (they are thinner).
I can't read my hex wrenches down that small. A T-5 fits just fine (hex grabs flats - torx grabs points) to snug something up this small it doesn't matter.

Thanks I will try this and let you know how it works.

I just loosened and then re-tightened mine with the T-5.

Hex grabs on the Flats and Torx grab on the points. In situations of High Torque - grabbing the flats will be stronger (more surface area to surface area contact).
In this situation the tightening is fingertip - no need to wrench on it.
As far as holding the pin - you can put small pieces of electrical tape on the plier face as to not mar the finish.
I will reiterate, this is all with the knife together IF you take it down everything is much more accessable - that's up to you and your comfort level.

I just tried it and sadly it doesn't work :(

Is it cross-threaded?

Gently remove it and see if it's an alignment issue.

Best case...realign into existing threads and tighten.

If sloppy, add a little weak lock-tight.

If that does not fix tthe issue...only a retapping or redrill and retap will fix it and that should only be done by sending it back to the maker...if its an option at all.

Have you had her apart? Can talk you thru it.

Yes I just took her apart last night for the 10th time so I'm comfortable taking it apart. The pliers don't have enough grip on the cylinder so it just turns even if I'm putting a lot of pressure squeezing it.

I was thinking cross thread as well.
Ok well I went ahead and took it apart and used different pliers and i got it all fixed. Thanks everybody. Next time this happens I'm going to put some blue Lock Tight on there.

Hey another question Rubi. If I had someone carbidize the lock face would that void the warranty?

To the OP, if you can get it apart I will gladly send you a new stop pin and screw. If not, you can send it in and we'll put a new one in it. Either way, drop me a line directly at rob@rickhindererknives.com and we'll see that it is taken care of.

*EDIT* I read further down and see you got it out, drop me a line if you need any new hardware.

Oh okay so there is no way to get earlier lock up?

Where is the lockup currently? Based on the one pic from the backside, it appears it might be around 50%? If so, use it, that is a great spot and likely where the lockbar has settled in for a long while.
