Very Loose Clip on Spyderco Stovepipe, or Bent?

Hi,

I just received a stovepipe 2nd hand, although it's near new. Per the seller, it was only carried 2x and I believe him. The thing is, the clip is extremely loose. The end of it is not touching the frame, and I would say is about a full 1mm away from touching. So, if I try to clip this to jeans, and just kinda leave the knife such that the clip is barely touching the pocket, a little tap would let it slide in and clip. It's that loose. I'm very sure that bending over this will drop out of the pocket.

Is this how it's supposed to be? Or is it bent?

Are there aftermarket clips for this?

Thanks,
Dean

Based on the profile view on KnifeCenter the clip should touch the handle in one small spot, just past the cutout for the frame lock (IE exactly where you want it to touch on a frame lock knife), with no visible gap.

Unless the clip screws are loose, it sounds like yours came with a slightly bent clip. Ti clips can be bent back into position, but they're less forgiving than steel and that's a pricey knife.

Do you have photo showing the issue?

Okay thanks guys. Thanks dadpool for looking it up and danke42 for confirming. Appreciate it

Probably bent due to use. It can be bent back but might not look "right." If so and if it bothers you, I'd buy a replacement from Spyderco, if they still have any. Often they don't w/limited release models, in which case, I'd try to find an aftermarket source. Don't know of any myself.

Just received mine new. Clip is clearly touching. Actually, I just held it up to the light to check… and I hadn’t even noticed the little round clear piece of plastic in between the clip and the scales. Apparently put in there to make sure there were no scratches. Nice touch.
