Hi everyone, I'm new around here and was hoping you all could help me find out more about a knife I found on my property.
I was doing some excavating for a fish pond and found a knife buried about 3 feet in the ground. It's 10 inches long (blade is 5.25 inches) on the blade itself it says "Sheriff Knife" in an old english type of font and down where the blade meets the handle it says "Valor #569"
The knife itself is very heavy in the hand, this thing is definitely made out of steel (but luckily somehow hadn't rusted at all!)
Any help all of you guys could give me would be helpful.
Thanks!

Valor Japan made pretty decent inexpensive knives in the 1980's or early 90's maybe.I don't know about that particular model.Clean it up,sharpen it and use it.

I agree with Seals , I have a Valor #436 boot knife in stag and I bought it in 1984 ( mail order).

It's made and Japan ( which really disappointed me back then ) but it is very well made.

Valor knives were made in Seki, Japan for the Valor Corporation in Miami, Florida. Seki, as you may know, is well known for the high quality of the knives produced.
