I've owned this knife for about 18 hours as of this post, and I've already thrashed it, cut my finger, and damaged the tip.
Thankfully, Emerson chooses a heat treat that produces a lower rockwell, and the tip was only damaged and not broken when I dropped it on the concrete floor.
After I got home from work, it took about 10 minutes to touch up the blade and repair the tip.
The stats say the blade is 3.75" vs. 4" for the Super Commander, but even after repairing the tip, it still looks less than .125 shorter.

Gotta say I am very impressed with the gentleman Jim.

Glad you are enjoying your 'Jim', cnc! It is certainly one of the best looking knives around and it is good to hear that it is Emerson tough as well.

Nice knife congrats.
This would make a nice addition to my 7 & 8
Please keep us posted as she breaks in and such.
Cheers.

There may be a GJ in my future (but I'm jonesing for a CQC-8 right now!)

That design (GJ) just works for most tasks

I carry an Al Mar Eagle right now in my right front pocket (deep carry-no clips for me) and I find that the long thin pointy blade is preferential for MOST cutting chores I (and probably most folks if they were honest) ACTUALLY really pull my knife out for. Things like opening packages, cutting tape, cutting string, cutting para cord, etc.

I have had a Commander and have a ZT 0200 but the fat wide blades (while sexy and strong) mixed with the recurve (while sexy and theoretically better cutters) end up NOT being carried...at least for me.

The GJ has been my grail Emerson for a while now, nice score! Love the slender blade design, it's a refreshing buck of the recent trend of massively wide blades.

I want one of these to go with my new Commander but they are impossible to find right now.

This is on my Emerson list, the blade looks like a great cutter! I have several Emerson's and they ae all tough, one of the things I like best about them:thumbup:

CNC I really hope you look better as an adult because you were horrible as a baby lol ;-)
enjoy your Emerson!

I've been using one of these daily for about 6 months as a work knife. The only minor issue I have with it is, because I only use it for a minute at a time, I'd prefer sharper gimpimg. Other than that it's well designed and built. It's a pleasure to use.

I've noticed it tends to get advertised as a dagger style blade but I think this is only true in comparison to modern extra wide blades.
