Very simple (but good) BK11 retention trick.

Got a BK11 and a stock sheath? If you want to make SURE you never lose it on the trail, pick up some shock cord. Loop it through one of the sheath holes and knot it just right so it can be pulled up and onto the bottle opener part in the butt end of the knife. No way in hell it's coming out.

I've posted this a long time ago, but lots of new people and little things get forgotten over time.

Here's a pic of it upside down on a pack strap:

Shock cord is one of the single most useful things to have in your mod tools drawer.

Hey I like that idea. Going to order some shock cord right now. Neat tip. Thanks for posting.

Does the stock sheath lose it's retention over time? I've only had mine a month and I don't see the need for an additional retention method.

Over time any plastic/kydex sheath will. Your knife is your single most important survival tool. This just Murphy-proofs it. Especially if its inverted, like on my pack.

I did the same thing with all my CRKT Folts minimalists. The sheaths are tight, but this just makes it impossible to lose.

Great idea there ,thanks for passing it on .....got to love bungee cord ,really useful stuff.

I dug around in my tub o' stuff and found the perfect little shock cord remnant. Thanks for a great tip on how to use it.

If you were to put the knot in the notch, with the knot facing out it would be faster to deploy. Knot in would still be easier than looped, as in your photo, but more secure. Your way though, would be the most secure, with nothing to catch on and more positive interface. Perhaps a little paracord pull and it would retain the security with a little bit easier access should you need it. Just some thoughts. I love the idea.

If you look closely at my pic, you'll see I tied two knots, which gives you something to grab and pull on.

and stick a foam ear plug in there (or half of one) to cure all rattle and looseness
