Tammy Faye's death cast a pall over Patsy's upcoming breast surgery. She has cancer nodes under ler left arm too & has lost about 25 + pounds. Her spirits are up & we pray that all will be well.

Doctor said she will need radiation too. Is this normal or does it mean she is worse than we believe ?

We've been together six sweet months .

they may be doing this if her family has a history to this illness.

I wish you well in this fight.

It's pretty tough to tell "normal" from anything else when it comes to breast cancer. My Mom went through it several years ago, as have several friends. I suggest you do some research online... Google, American Cancer Society, WebMD, etc. Tons of info to be had.

There are 4 "stages" of cancer, depending on the location/spread/etc. Learn as much as you can in order to help as much as you can. Ask as many questions as you can think of with every doc and nurse. You won't find out all the info unless you ask.

Prayers and smoke sent your way.

I don't know about breast cancer specifically but in some types of cancer the one-two punch of surgery and radiation offers a greater chance for successful treatment. It may not necessarily mean that things are worse.

A dear friend of ours has had breast cancer twice...almost 10 years apart.
From being there when the Doctor talked to the family after latest surgery, he felt they got it all....but it was real evident that in treatment, they would rather err toward more treatment than not enough. ...and the Doc is known as a "straight talker"....

Maybe the radiation is to be safer. Be sure to talk with the Doctors....
They can give you a better answer.
