I have a paramilitary 2, the black one. I have open and close the knife for sure couple thousand times and the sticky lock will not go away. it is very unpleasant feeling ,it gives me goose bumps some times its so bad. I try all the lubes and powders and they only work for first 50 openings. then is back to sticky grind like feeling.
can I maybe grind the lock or the blade a little so its smooth ? my other brown para2 is like butter, zero grind. feels very good.
hope someone has the solution, thank you

Well all I could say is send it to spyderco for a replacement.....it sounds like a defect to me.

yeah i was hoping i can avoid that, but this is maybe the best solution.
i will give them i ring and see what they say.

thank you

My Yo2 had a sticky problem when I first got it. It eventually wore in, with the help of some graphite powder mixed with beeswax. it took a couple days but eventually I just stopped noticing the problem and realized it had gone away.

When I had my para2, it had that problem for the first month or so. After that first month, it went away slowly ..then about 3 months later it was smooth as butter.

Search YouTube and you will find a video where a guy shows a process of loosening and rotating the stop pin. Sometimes this can help. If it doesn't, send it to Golden.....

my blue pm2 had a really sticky lock... i sent it to golden and im not sure if anything was really done to it.. when i got it back it was the same still sticky.(not saying yours wont be fixed if you send it back.. this is just my personal experience) the turn around time for mine was like a month or so if i recall correctly. But, when i got it back i did the stop pin stuff and basically took the knife apart and re-loctited the screws. Look to see how far your lock bar goes when its engaged. Mine happens to be pretty far.. more than halfway to the right. And, im not sure if oiling or taking the pencil and marking the lock will help either.. it seems like to me it would make the lock bar travel even further to the right. (i dont recommend taking your knife apart either as it might void warranty)

safe bet is to probably send it back and then see what happens. unless you really need and cant live without your pm2

Thanks guys

she is in the box and going back to Spyderco today. When she is back from the trip i will let know how she feels.

Nobody should have to deal with that. You should get rid of it. Send it to me and I'll "dispose" of it properly for you :)

I had this same exact issue with a Junior. I sent it back to the vendor and they agreed that something wasn't right, so they sent me a new one.

well, just got the knife back.
they did not fix the problem. they sharpen the blade very good, even better when it was knew.looks like they clean any old lube i put on the lock.
they send me back the $5 ,that was cool. got the new catalog and some other price sheets.
looks like i need to file down the lock just a bit. i live with it for a while hehe if it dont get better i will try to fix it ,just hope i dont ruin it, wish me luck, hehe

"Filing down the lock" will affect lockup surprisingly quickly.

Have you tried giving it a thorough washing with soap and hot water? Perhaps there is leftover grit from the factory.

yeah i think i spoke too soon.
after playing with the knife for couple hours it feels almost perfect. there is still this little resistance when trying to close the blade. but really it is way better from when i got it new.
they must have done something as the grind feeling is gone and it just getting better and better.
i like my para2 very much.
good job, thank you spyderco
