You are becoming a man....The detent on my 550 is so strong that my thumbs are starting to bruise from opening it over and over again. Is this normal?
why are you opening it over and over again..you only need to open a knife once to use it.. I often wonder how many times people open a knife to use it vs how my times they open it over and over for no reason.
0550's come with a crazy hard detent. Mine was the same way until I flipped it a few hundred times. Now it is one of the smoothest openers I have.
Not sure if this is the same as what you're seeing, but for me, it was more that any additional pressure on the lockbar made the knife nearly impossible to open (even pulling on it two-handed). I found that I was resting my index finger over the lockbar and slightly squeezing when pushing the thumb stud up. Shifting my index finger to the area by the pivot screw and my middle finger down to rest on the clip (mounted for tip-up carry) fixed this for me.

Oh now chester, don't be that way. Some of us are fiddlers. And I don't mean violinists.
