Greetings All:

This dagger has been on my workbench for about two months while trying to decide what handle & guard treatment I would use. This is what I came up with. The handle is Royal Walnut with fossilized walrus ivory inlays......my very first coffin handle knife. .175" satin finish W-2 with satin finished carbon steel double guard, 9 3/4" OAL, 5" BL, thumb serrations on the ricasso. Available. My wife, chief-in-house-quality-control-inspector, didn't like the inlays - what do you all think? All comments welcome.

Love the proportions...but I'm with the spouse on the inlays. IDK why...just from the gut.

Great input - thanks - it seemed like too much real estate without the inlays to me :)

I really like it, and agree the handle needed something, but I would have probably preferred a small pinned plate to the ivory inlay.

I don't think the dimensions of the inlay throw it off. I think what's throwing me off is the walrus is just close enough in color to the guard material that it looks unintentionally mismatched. I would've liked to see how this came out with an inlay that's the same as the guard material... some sort of steel shield/oval.

I like the design of the knife immensely, especially the reinforced tip and the guard and thumb serrations.

Great looking knife! Tell the missus that Mongo likes the inlays.

Thanks Mongo - I told her. As a matter of fact, the overwhelming majority of you fellas agreed with the inlays. I made it a point to read these to her........I sleep on the sofa tonight. :(
