Well at last the Vesuvius was waiting for me when I got home from school today. I instantly knew what it was and I was so excited I almost forgot the ritual of opening a new Spydie with an existing one. So after my Calypso Jr. worked its magic on the box, I finally held the Vesuvius in my hands.
I'm starting to appreciate the fact that mine isn't a serial numbered model, because now I won't be afraid to carry it and use it. However, I did get the model with the Spyderbug on the handle and it looks great!
The first thing I did outta the box was shave my arm, and I'd pretty much have to say it was the sharpest out of the box of any knife I've bought. I'm almost afraid to touch the edge.
The compression lock opens easily, and holds solidly. And as an added bonus, I finally fully understand how the compression lock works. The superiority in design seems obvious now.
I dunno, I think this wrested the title of favorite knife from my Calypso Jr., but will it remain champion when the Chinook arrives in a few days?
