Just got it for Christmas. Incredibly sharp and I bet it holds it for a long time(have not had a chance to test this yet, though.) Great Job Sal!

K Man,

Whoops, I just asked you this same question in the serrated blade thread, about when you acquired your VG-10 Delica. Guess I should've looked here first.

I don't suppose you could show us a picture of it, could you? I'm dying to know what they look like.

Jeff/1911-It is not the Delica, but the Endura. I love this great steel in a full sized blade. Sorry, but I can't post a pic. Just imagine a fully serrerated Endura with VG-10 stamped where ATS-55 usually is and that is it.

jefroman-My Grandparents (the best in the world!) got it for me at a local B&M store. No knives from my parents this year.

K Man,

Sorry. I realized it was the Endura you had, but had Delica's on the brain last night when I typed the message to you.

Is the blade of your VG-10 Endura hollow ground (scalloped out sides down to the blade)? Or it it flat ground, w/ a continuous taper from the spine of the blade all the way to the edge?

If it's hollow ground, I suggest that you got one of the rare "crossover" versions where they are using the new VG-10 steel with the old style grind pattern. This is not the way they were going to be produced. It was written that they would feature a flat ground blade in VG-10. I prefer the hollow ground style myself, at least in these models.

Jeff.

Jeff-It is not a full flat grind because the grind does not go to the edge. I can't tell If it is a partial flat grind or hollow grind, it is very hard to tell. Maybe it is extremely rare and worth a lot of $$!

Sorry-the grind does not go all the way to the spine (not edge), only halfway like the ATS-55 ones. My mistake.

K Man,

Your knife sounds just like the two Delica's I just got (a plain edge and a 50/50). Unless I am mistaken, these knives will end up being kind of rare as I think the new VG-10 versions were all supposed to get the full, flat grind treatment.

The new VG-10 Enduras/Delicas aren't full flat-grinds (from spine to edge), but flat saber-grinds (vs. the original hollow saber-grinds). It's a small change: slightly stronger tip, slightly less efficient shallow cutting.

Here is a quick and dirty illustration:

Carlos,

I had missed that distinction. Well then, perhaps that is how mine is after all. I can't really tell whether it has a flat sabre grind or a hollow saber grind, just by looking at it by itself.

I did compare mine to an ATS-55 Delica and saw no difference, but maybe I just didn't look closely enough. I'm just going to have to go back to that shop tomorrow and have another look. I'll write back with my findings.

Thanks again for your help with this.

Jeff/1911.
