Hi,
Just wanted to know if the VG-10 lums I have seen are a limited run like the ZDP version or if they were here to stay. Thanks.

Depends on which ones you've seen.

The two new VG-10 ones (normal blade and black blade, green handle, bug on left side of blade) are distributor exclusives which were made for Moteng. There were 600 pieces made of each. It's probably unlikely, but I don't think there is any guarantee Moteng won't order more.

The older blue VG-10 version was a similar case, they were made for one of Spyderco's European distributors and, IIRC, 600 to 800 of them were made.

The older green VG-10 version (Bob Lum's mark on left side of blade) were "open stock".

There's also no guarantee Spyderco will not do another run, possibly in a different color, either on their own, or for someone else. And, from what I recollect, Sal mentioned the possibility of a larger version.

Thanks. Never realised there were that many versions. I was looking at one of the new black bladed ones.

The ZDP ones still come up here and there on the exchange forum. I saw one go for $105 or so recently. I have a ZDP model myself... wonderful knives.

Whichever one you get you'll be satisfied.
