IMO a SS-handled Police with this blade steel sounds like it would be one of those near-perfect knives. Anyone else for it?
(then again, if it happened I'd have to buy at least one more Police and I have 2 already) :)

I will take two !!! One for me and one for my father.
(In fact steel change is the reason why I am still waiting...)

Although I love my Police models the way they are...that would truly be a dream come true. I would DEFINITELY want one, in plain edge at least.

Dreamily, Jeff.

I didn't really think that this was a possibility. Really, really neat. Thank you, Sal.

That's great, Sal! :)
That will be about a perfect knife. Will it keep its hollow grind? (Since the Police is a nice thick blade and the hollow grind is just right for its edge).
Jim

Sal, Just on the SS model?? Will there be a Flat grind Vg-10 offered for the
police??

I've been eyeing the flat grind model for quite a while as it is similar to my
much favored Calypso. A Vg-10 flat grind will push me over the edge and
I'll by one. I prefer slim knives in hand and the police fills the bill.

Just the SS model and just the hollow grind.

The G-10 version with the flat grind is being discontinued for 2002.

Sal,

I was just going to write back with the same question; regarding hollow grind or flat grind. I wondered if it might go to a flat grind as the Delica's and Endura's have when changing to VG-10 (At least, I think that's what I heard).

I am pleased that the Police will be available in VG-10 and hollow ground. To me, THAT is perfect!

As I mentioned in the thread "pictures of VG-10 Delica's" I can't see the difference between "old" (ATS-55) and "new" (VG-10) Delica's.

Was I wrong about a change to flat grind, with VG-10?

Jeff/1911.

Jeff:
Yes, the new ones are flat saber ground. Surprisingly, yesterday at a mall knife shop I saw some ATS-55 versions that had gone to the the flat saber grind. The blades retain the full thickness to the same point as the hollow ground versions, but from there they are flat ground. At a glance it's hard to tell the difference but when I examined them, the edges are now thicker. It is possible there was a run of VG-10 models made with the hollow grind, and if so you may want the grab one while they are there.

James,

See also my reply to you on the Spydiesite. I certainly will pick up one of each of these "curiousities" if I'm able.

Jeff.

Like I mentioned on the Spydiesite, I went and picked up one of the hollow ground, VG-10 plain edge Delica's yesterday. I decided not to buy a 50/50 like this after all, but may do so if I can afford to before this specimen is gone from the store.

I'm also hoping for a serrated Delica from my kids for Christmas. Mainly, I want them to have the satisfaction and reward of seeing my face when I open the gift of a Spyderco knife, once again. There is no other look like that, at least not for me.

Jeff:
Hope your X-Mas wishes come true! :)

The Delica's one of those knives that just feels very natural in the hand and carries easily enough too. Glad you were able to get the VG-10, hollow-ground version.
Jim

Hey, I hope your Christmas wishes come true, too. I plan to watch the stock in this store to see if they get any more of these VG-10, hollow ground specimens in.

All the best, Jeff/1911.
