Well, I had already posted this knife in a previous thread but I finished the knife block today and thought I would post it as well! It's made from purpleheart and tulipwood! Any comments are welcome!

The idea is very cool, the wood is great, but something is missing. Seems like it's not quite done.

I don't know, maybe if the edges were beveled? Or a little groove on each side running parallel to the edge like you do on a sheath? Needs just a little more...

Usually I would round the edges on a knife block, but I usually also make blocks that are holding multiple knives. This is the first time that I have done one that held a single knife, and I was purposely trying to go for something simpler this time. Honestly if I was keeping it myself I would have probably rounded the edges, but I believe the older gentleman who is receiving it will really like the look of the simple, unfinished wood...at least that what's I'm hoping! :) It has all been sanded too a high grit so the wood is smooth.

awesome knife! I love integrals, for aesthetics and for sanitation. Personally, I prefer the wood to have a finish, a light oil would take the white out of the purpleheart and make the colours richer IMHO. I like how the tulipwood is stacked up, very natural looking.

I've been reconsidering finishing it...and I concede I will put a coat or two of oil on it! Mainly because it will keep the purpleheart from turning brown quicker than it needs too. The purpleheart is actually a good amount darker than the pick shows it; I think it showed up lighter because of the flash!
