I just recieved an e-mail from Victorinox and they told me,that the Red ALOX Farmer is no longer in production
Here in Bulgaria, there aren't any coloured ALOX models-just silver ones...
In some online stores i have seen a red Farmer.Do they really have some of these little beauties ?I'm thinking of ordering a Black Pioneer and a Red Farmer-do I have a chance of getting these little fellows ?

Greetings,
Bojidar

You could try felinevet.sosakonline.com or Dave at Defense Knife and Tool. Him you can find in the exchange, under the dealer listing--look for the thread 'international order desk'. I've ordered from both Felinevet (who is a member here) and Dave, and they both ship to Canada. Maybe to you, too?

FelineVet is definitely the place to look. He ships world over and his prices and international shipping charges are excellent (shipping in the US is free).

Amazon.com has them, but I don't think they ship out of the US.

They used to be $16 but Amazon only ships books to Europe. Luckily I found a seller on the auction site who did ship to Europe andwas selling them for the same price.

I hadn't heard of FelineVet at the time or I would have bought them there.

I'm the guy who originally suggested amazon, because I stupidly forgot about Felinevet. I agree with everyone else the Felinevet is the first place to look for anything SAK. I've gotten a few knives from him and his prices have always been great and his shipping fast. AND the funds go to a good cause.

Strange that it is marked "new". It's been available in the US (along with the black Pioneer and red and blue Farmers) for quite some time, definitely for over a year.

The answer from Victorinox is - It is avaible only in the US... :(
I'll get one from FelineVet.But now I wonder - should I get a red Pioneer or a red Farmer ?
Do I really need the saw blade...I find the Pioneer much more elegant and good looking with its two layers. It's also pretty comfortable in the hand...If I have to use a saw,I prefer my folding saw,or the saw of the 111mm Trekker.Maybe I'll get a red Pioneer and later I'll get a blue farmer :D

I EDC'd a Farmer for a long time until I got an Electrician plus.Same as the Farmer xcpt instead of the can opener there is a 2nd blade. A neat little sheepfoot/coping type blade. If you like a pocketknife with 2 blades, check it out.---KV

Second blade would be nice !
What is better - the electrician or the prunning blade ?
I think the Pioneer Harvester was a Farmer with a prunning blade instead of a can opener.

I just took my Red Pioneer off my keys and replaced it with a silver Farmer, initial thoughts, it's a little wider not really noticable in tha pocket but definitely heftier in the hand which for me feels better for use.

Everyone says will I really the saw that much? Today I used it to cut out two holes in the sheetrock for a cable jack and an outlet, pruned a bunch of low hangin' branches on the black walnut trees all over the yard and finally cut a 2"X4" in half just 'cause I could.

So if ya think ya might not use the saw I'm sure you'll find more uses for it than you think.

T. Erdelyi - I use the saw of the 111 mm SAK's much.Just don't like the smaller,thinner saw of the 91/93 mm's.Not s ocomfortable to use IMHO :)

The Farmer (or and Electrician Plus) are perfect for drywall. I have made tons of holes with the awl and cut some holes with the saw. That said, for the garden I do prefer 111mm SAKs - the saw is thicker, and the extra length does make a difference.
