Vic Farmer: Saw rubs against knife blade when closing

When i go to close the saw on my Farmer, i can hear the last few teeth "clicking" as they rub against the back of the blade. I dont see any real wear on either tool, but i can imagine it must be taking off tiny bits off of the saw teeth. Has anyone else had this problem? Should i bother sending it in to Victorinox to get it fixed? It doesnt seem like there is alot of room for adjustment, the way the tools are crammed into such a small space...

Ever since I had a model where the saw would get stuck in the liner I have always guided the saw shut rather than let it snap shut. If there isn't any visible damage and I was in your situation I would think it a waste of time to send it in.

Any chance that the saw blade is bent?

EDIT:
I just checked mine, it happened to be in my pocket :) 3 or 4 times out of 10 the saw blade will slightly contact the main blade when closing. And I hear the clicking noise. It's an easy thing to very gently flex the blade to stop that from happening. It's really a matter of putting my thumb in a different place when closing. It's not a problem for me. I've used this sak for years and the saw still works great.

Thanks guys, that makes me feel better about it. Considering I don't use the saw all the time simply not letting it snap closed sounds like a perfect solution :)

Agree with the others, I wouldn't send it back. I've noticed this on a couple of mine. They seem to be a bit curved from the factory (maybe the type/thickness of the steel and the heat treating process?). Just be careful when closing as indicated above.

I would send it in. The Vic Service Center in Monroe, CT will take care of it in short order. Cost will only be $5 plus shipping it to them.
