The Huntsman was the first pocket knife that my parents gave me when I was a child. I lost that knife, but the Huntsman is still one of my favourite SAKs and I've got a few of them. When I go camping, I always throw one in my backpack. It has everything I need on a SAK for camping trips. When I wasn't into knives yet and didn't have the SAK collection that I have now, a classic Mora on my belt and a Huntsman in my pocket covered all my cutting tasks and more. This combo probably still would do fine, but like most of us, now I can choose from many knives, SAKs and multitools. The Huntsman is still going with me in my backpack though.

Thanks for the reply. I honestly thought more would reply. Seems like a good choice & the sharpening steel is just bonus. All in one little package. I figure between this, a leatherman & med fixed blade & one of my big choppers & i would be all set. I have 3 Rubber Maid containers full of knives to choose from. Sometimes smaller is just the ticket for certain occasions. Thanks again.

..... or just the Huntsman and a $5 pair of needlenose pliers.

Or just the Huntsman.

I recently bought my first Huntsman. It'll ride in pocket on weekends out in the country with the wife and kids. Between the standard blades and tools, and the saw (great for making walking sticks for the kids), scissors (darn handy to have around), corkscrew (to open a bottle of red back in the inn), the tiny corkscrew screwdriver (fixing sunglasses), and the tweezers (splinters in kids, and ticks in our dog), the Huntsman really covers all the bases. I just took it for a weekend in the mountains with the whole crew and couldn't have been happier.

I think that the Huntsman and Fieldmaster, take your pick, corkscrew or Phillips, just might be the perfect sak. I have carried and used them a lot with great success. I will choose either one of them and a pair of pliars over a multi tool every time.

My first Huntsman was one I bought off someone in the local on line ads. The red handle was kinda beat enough to make me look for replacement scales, which I chose white 93mm from SwissBianco. His white scales also had the slot for the Vic ink pen so I ordered that and a little screwdriver for the corkscrew. I love this knife so much I bought a brand new black one from Blade HQ.

I have to have the scissors and the saw- so handy. This model has become a favorite. I have opened a lot of cans with it and I have used the saw on some gardening tasks. So dang sharp! Funny, coz I have used the main blade prolly the least- except for my 5 yr old wanting to look at the main blade the sucker stays put. The smaller blade is real handy too but I have only opened letters and packages with it. I take the black one to work with me at the Hospital, and I save the white one for pocket carry at home. Love this model times 10.
Good choice, sorry I dont have too much rough experience with it but I really like the tool selection on this model.
Let us know your experiences with this model Twinstick.

Huntsman is a great knife. It lives in my fishing bag and does a good job at those chores.

Well, i just got home from work & found the Woodland Camo Huntsman & the XL Zermatt sheath w/sharpening steel on the counter. Gotta say, i LOVE IT !!! Was not sure about the size of the sheath. It is too big for just the knife. :( Then: Bingo---;) A fullsized disposable lighter fits PERFECT right next to the knife !!! :D I will post a pic if i can ever figure out how to upload onto photo bucket since they updated it.

Yes, I love my Huntsman also, but find it a bit large for EDC. I normally carry a Deluxe Tinker - need the pliers. Rigged the belt sheath for a steel on one side and a pencil on the other. Both/all Vics are great knives.

Also has an awl. It was too tight to open with all the other stuff out. :D

Pretty sweet looking setup. I may have to pick up one of those sheathes. At the end of the month the wife and kids and I will spend a week hiking around in the Austrian Alps. My Huntsman will be riding in my pocket every step of the way.

Sweet !! Take lots of pics & post em up somewhere on this site.

Note: the fit was TIGHT ! I put some neatsfoot oil on the inside of sheath & flap, then after an hour, i pushed them in & snapped it up. Let it sit like that overnight. Now they fit perfectly, just like it was meant for it. :D
