I got a Manager a while back and it's a great little keychain knife! Same length as the ubiquitous Classic, but just a little thicker. Another, perhaps better, way to describe it is as a Rambler that substitutes a retractable ball point pen for the toothpick.

The thing I like best about it, and the Rambler too, is that the pen blade and scissors open opposite of the keyring attachment - much more user friendly that way! ;)

As I said, from the factory this comes with a retractable ball point pen and tweezers. I bought a 6-pack of small replacement toothpicks and traded out the tweezers for a toothpick on mine, so now I have a pen and a toothpick - no tweezers. If you look closely at the pics you'll see the gray knob that extends/retracts the pen.

My favorite as well. I'm waiting for a Silver Tech Midnight Manager that substitutes the tweezers with a white LED light. It's obviously thicker than the manager, but not by much. I'll take a picture when it arrives.

Sounds good, Sep - let us know how you like the white LED, too. I've heard the red lights aren't all that great.

.

whole heartly agreed! thats the best feature compared to classic or ambassador...

i switch my ramble to classic on my usb flashdisc... and definately miss that exact feature!

I am carrying a Saphire Midnight Manager for a while now and I love this little SAK. Last weekend at a tapas bar we needed to write down the numbers of the dishes we wanted to eat. We needed a pen and paper. There were paper pads on the table and a pen on the Manager!

It has a red light, just like my SwissLite. Red light is handy if you want to illuminate something and don't want other people to notice that. I think that's a reason why they invented red filters for flashlights. When you're camping with other people in a tent or room in a youth hostel and need light, then red light is handy, the other people won't notice too much. A disadvantage is that you don't have as much light as with normal white light. Red light does not spread very well, it is very limited.

does anyone know the thickness of the Manager? Is it any thicker than a Rambler? (SAK Wiki didnt have the dimensions of the manager) I like the idea of a pen, but not if it adds much thickness. thanks!

I don't know the exact dimensions, but the scale that houses the pen looks to be about 1/16" thicker than the scale that houses the tweezers. I would assume the scales on the Rambler are of equal thickness???

Thanks!

So 7/16" is 0.4375"

SAK Wiki reports the Rambler is 10.5mm, which is 0.413"

So the two should be about the same thickness. Perhaps given the precision involved they are the same. In any case, neither is too thick, which I think is true of the MiniChamp at 0.575".

Thanks again.

I always carry a Manager on my car keys as back-up to whatever larger knife I'm carrying that day. Very good combination of tools in a small package.
