Vic OHT blade spring issue?

I just got an older OHT in a trade and there's almost no spring tension on the blade. It doesn't really pull closed or snap open. In fact, I can open the blade 1/8 inch and it wont pull closed, it'll just sit.
I had a Sentinal not long ago and seem to recall it having normal spring tension like a typical two handed Vic. Also, the other tools on this OHT all have normal tension as well.
Did I get a bad knife, or is this normal with this model? -Thanks.

The spring should have enough power to close the blade with a "snap".

Is the knife hard to open? It could be just gummed up.
Try rinsing it with hot water and spray some WD40 on it, the use light mineral oil. If it still doesnt close with authority, then the spring schould be replaced.

Yeah, there's no spring tension at all, nothing keeping the blade closed but friction. Almost like a regular liner-lock, but without the detent. The saw blade right next to the main blade functions like normal. I also noticed that the main blades spring hardly moves (protrudes) at all durring opening, but I'm not sure if that's relevant to the issue. -It looks very clean, but I'll give it a wash and hope for the best.
I wonder if Victorinox will fix this, or if I should send it back. -It's a hassle either way. Thanks again.

It's not normal on the OHT, it's a "flaw" on yours, and I'm sure they would respond for it if you send the knife to them. Maybe just contact them and see what they say.

I just got off the phone with the their customer service and the lady I spoke with was very nice and she said it wont be a problem, just send it in and they'll repair or replace it. This is my first experience with Victorinox CS, and I'd say it's goin well thus far. I sure do appreciate a company with good CS.
