Well I re-scaled my Christmas One Hand Trekker in some wood that was also a gift.
I'm pretty sure the giver said it was ebony, but it's a little more brown than ebony I've seen in the past.
At the same time, it's blacker than any walnut I've seen, either.
The grain is tight and swirls some- I like it a lot.

I haven't even oiled it yet, but it seems to resist water very well.
Anybody know a better test to tell which it is? I saved a cutoff...

The round metal bit is going to hold a clip. I just bought a little nut, turned it down to a circle, and cut off a machine screw to the right depth. Only problem is, the clip spins (I knew that would happen :o ). So the next thing I'll probably do is use a little elmer's glue on the screw. Not so permanent that you can't get the clip off, but enough to hold it steady so it clips right.

Hey Mike, just realized who you were after admiring your handi work.
Your monkey fist arrived today, very cool!
Was that a difficult mod to do? I would love to try that out.

Hey Liam,
Geez, only just arrived yesterday?? Maybe it sat around customs for a while? Dang. Well, I'm glad at least it made it safely!

Difficulty's not to bad. Just takes some patience to smooth the wood flush with the liners. and you've got to make real sure that it's all flat, or you get gaps between the liner and scale, a big no-no. It helps to mix in some of the wood dust with your epoxy, so that it matches the color exactly.

Get a pretty complete set of dremel bits and you'll be good to go :)
